There is no different view. If there is a scene in which Orion has to choose one girl over the other, the story is changed irreparable. It might not be an explicit change, but it sure is an implicit one in a game that is about the MC not being able to choose.
Like i said i treat the scene is the same with FF7 for example where both Aerith and Tifa are important and regardless of who you've got at the gondola date the course of the story doesnt change, Aerith still dies and the story move on chasing Sephiroth, and Eternum also the same regardless of which path you take it doesnt change the main plot. you said its change the plot but for me isnt at all and no one can change my opinion on that.period

FF7 is a pointless comparison, it isn't a harem game in which the canon ending is to end up with both, because one dies anyway and the other one doesn't. :HideThePain:

Well, it's been 5 pages of discussion\debate about "branching" now.
Surely this has to be one of the most contested things ever suggested in this game, which almost everyone universally loved before.
That's quite a stark contrast.
True, but it is also quite strange to be added to the game. Not only has it been a narrative point that Orion can't choose (for the canon route at least) but it also has been a point that he would have to treat them all equally. I would have to check again, but I'm certain it had been spelled out quite clearly in the recent updates.
And that is where some people went :WaitWhat: and I can totally understand that, being one of them. It was made literally a narrative point only to be then worked around with split paths now. Not my game, but still enough of a contrast to comment on.
As in there is totally things it conflicts with but what would it actually bring?

I'm really curious to see the arguments on Patreon/Discord even if they are probably the same ones that were stated here and especially the state of the vote at the end.
If it's almost 50/50, like it was the last time I saw it here, I'm also curious to see how Cari will react

That's where I see the main problem he has invited.
Whichever group don't get their preferred way, will likely be a bit pissed off.
It would've been far better for his game & his fans if he had never suggested something so divisive.

Yes, that's what I said about the Penny/Vampires and Luna/Werewolves choice. That choice shouldn't have existed in the first place and unfortunately it could continue on that path.

But yes, implementing the vote result will displease half of his community that currently pays for the game, because I imagine it's only accessible to those who pay. This all seems like a bad move

Just about every single other one has been welcomely & widely accepted.
This one is fiercely contested.
And that was kinda the point I tried to make. Maybe that wasn't too clear :HideThePain:

And in my opinion so far the narrative of the wholesome harem had largely only been added to and even the werewolf/vampire split was already very strange in that regard.
And that's where I see the tension coming from, this poll (or rather it's currently likely result) just straight up doesn't fit with the vibe of the narrative so far and I seem to not be the only one who thought that. So it didn't surprise me that this one stirred the pot so much actually.

And yes I agree, making the poll was a bit of a mistake. It would likely have been even less of a problem had Cari just done it instead of made the poll about it. That only gives time for fronts to harden. But now we gotta see how it turns out I guess. At the moment I trust.

So by my understanding if the branching works like the werewolf scene then what people are mad about?? it doesnt affect the plot and if you want to see the other scene just save before the branching start thats all, its not like a certain popular game with multiply branches like diving down a rabbit hole. and i hate branching also and prefer a straight forward story but if branching like the werewolf/dracula scene then its not really a bother imo.
True. Branching is fun when it's short and has no long-term repercussions.

Branching sucks when a decision you made 30 hours ago is affecting your current content:eek:

Thats why i dont mind the branching in Eternum unlike for example in FF7R you have to replay the game all the way down to change your decision just to see another gondola date with different characters.

Why not a compromise? After MC makes his choice, he rethinks and decides to tell the other girl where he's going. And naturally she's going to find some excuse to either follow him, or ask to come with him. And also naturally, she ends up watching, or maybe getting seen at the end.

That's the whole point of branching... Otherwise why have it? if it's pointless you're just wasting your development time AND your players time...
