The downside is that as Eternum grows in popularity, it will also attract the vultures, trolls, and Felii Canis, people who will be looking for the least flaw in update schedule and such, ready to declare the game abandoned, milking, etc. if they can find some imperfection.Given that it has the highest weighted rating right now it is safe to say that the general consensus is that this is among the best VNs. Will VNs improve going forward? I dont know but I hope it does.
brother, switching that is literaly just Annie.favouriteMovie = newFavouriteMovie;...wtfCaribdis, you are a god.
If any such trolls do arise, The Church of Nova would like to have a word with them...The downside is that as Eternum grows in popularity, it will also attract the vultures, trolls, and Felii Canis, people who will be looking for the least flaw in update schedule and such, ready to declare the game abandoned, milking, etc. if they can find some imperfection.
I would hope that a lot of those people will be weeded out by the slow-burn of the game. If you're not invested into the story and the characters at this point, there is little reason to play it.The downside is that as Eternum grows in popularity, it will also attract the vultures, trolls, and Felii Canis, people who will be looking for the least flaw in update schedule and such, ready to declare the game abandoned, milking, etc. if they can find some imperfection.
Given how Carib has proven himself to be quite the workaholic at times it'll be quite hard to pin him as someone who is going to slip into the path of ICSTOR. It also helps that Eternum is designed the way it is (narrative-driven VN that is more interested in telling a linear story with limited branching and minor gameplay elements like QTEs and limited freeroaming to shake things up a bit), as it allows Caribdis to just focus on character development and plot without having to take into account what unique path or love interest the player chose and how said paths are going to branch even further (like BADIK, for instance) or - in the case of sandboxes - fall into the damnable pit that is endless feature creep with no visible end in sight (like the case of SS and MM).The downside is that as Eternum grows in popularity, it will also attract the vultures, trolls, and Felii Canis, people who will be looking for the least flaw in update schedule and such, ready to declare the game abandoned, milking, etc. if they can find some imperfection.
One of the things I like about this game is the smaller details you do not notice. The annie movie thing is fine but my favorite has to be the text effects in the latest update. I really liked it in that scene where Idriel crashes the haloween party when Orion is high on shrooms. If you hover over the text with your cursor it goes all over the place. Its pretty cool and something that I think was easy to miss.brother, switching that is literaly just Annie.favouriteMovie = newFavouriteMovie;...wtf
Who gives a shit about that? I think it is easy to identify when someone is trolling and when someone is giving more genuine feedback/criticism. You can just block the trolls and move on. Those posts are not even worth replying to. I have not been a supporter for a long time (started following/supporting after update 0.3 was out) but so far except for the ~1 month break period the dev takes after release we have been getting weekly updates like clockwork. I admire the regular schedule. The downside is that as Eternum grows in popularity, it will also attract the vultures, trolls, and Felii Canis, people who will be looking for the least flaw in update schedule and such, ready to declare the game abandoned, milking, etc. if they can find some imperfection.

And I think that's exactly what makes Eternum unlike other games on this site.I would hope that a lot of those people will be weeded out by the slow-burn of the game. If you're not invested into the story and the characters at this point, there is little reason to play it.

Oh yes, even though... Words aren't the first things we, as worshipper of the Goddess, will have with them...If any such trolls do arise, The Church of Nova would like to have a word with them...

I love Nova, she's my second favourite, and she's the most unique and original character in one of these games. But Penelope is my favourite girl. However, I love and admire the extreme confidence and reverence of the Church of Nova, their hype and their solidarity so I would consider myself to be a proud member of the church of Nova.Oh yes, even though... After the "treatment" well, yes, we could use some words of love too.... To encourage them following the righteous path of course, nothing else...![]()

Anyone who provides any kind of criticism is attacked by the faithful here. This is overall an excellent game, but it has flaws and weaknesses as all games do. Any mention of weakness or flaw draws immediate attack though, and screams of how this is the most bestest, excelentest game ever, and that naysayers must be either idiots or trolls. The fan base of this game is probably the most devoted I've seen thus far on the site, which is saying something because there are some rabid fans for a variety of games, and it's great that dev enjoys the support, but the echo chamber nature of this thread can be a little toxic. One of the things I like about this game is the smaller details you do not notice. As someone who truly believes this is the "most bestest, excelentest game ever", I think it's a good thing to discuss the flaws as well, in a constructive way, so that this game and future games can be even better!Anyone who provides any kind of criticism is attacked by the faithful here. Sure, but defending against what? You can defend against false facts and you can argue interpretations, but you can't defend againat opinion. You can disagree with it, but not defend against it. Nor is shouting down or denying them constructive to future iterations. That's especially the case for game like this that really is a top game, and people are secure in that, so really there's little to defend in the first place. I just think that people should be open to constructive critique that is well meant, in all games not just this oneAs someone who truly believes this is the "most bestest, excelentest game ever", I think it's a good thing to discuss the flaws as well, in a constructive way, so that this game and future games can be even better!
At the same time, I feel like it's okay for people to want to defend something that is so important to them as long as we aren't being toxic by saying all criticisms are meaningless.
