Since Patreon Denied our glorious Oyakodon and Shimaidon, i only hope we get a Nancy-Annie-Orion threesome before Final v1.3

Nancy after all, wanted to eat Her :sneaky:
But at the same time Luna saw Herself having a 3some with Annie and Orion.
So we have to see if Caribdis have the time for all the combos.

because some people want choices to matter(I kinda don't).
Choices that matter will, inevitably, lead to extended development times.

They are cool in big projects like Mass Effect, but incredibly difficult and time consuming for a single writer.

Most of the time they reduce the quality of a first playthrough - but offer the incentive for another.

In my AVN, there are only two love interests, and the only major choice is of whether you pursue one, the other, or both. Even that is a pain in the arse to deal with because both characters are not only important to the relationships the main character develops with them - but the actual plot. If I had my way, I probably would have given no options and made it clear the game has these characters and you can't avoid intimacy with either of them. However, I do understand the position of someone who jives with one, but not the other.

That balancing act, of where to give the player some freedom (at the cost of your own sanity), and where you cannot - is quite important for anything that isn't a full kinetic novel.

I kind of lean towards your position myself. I like choices that add "flavour." But not choices that lead to major branching and big negative consequences. I used to think it was the opposite, until I played Final Fantasy XIV, where choices just give an alternative bit of dialogue in response, and don't shape the overarching narrative - and realised I like that. It gives me a chance to express myself in the response without locking me out of content. So that's kind-of the direction I wanted to go with my own.

I think Caribdis mostly hits a sweet spot (aside from the stuff like "I like your pen." Where it's too obtuse) where you can express yourself by favouring responses offered, and you are rewarded for that more than you are punished. That does mean there are limitations, but I am cool with them.

not really a fan of those kind of choices. It's not a choice based on your played character or even a choice based on the character you're interacting with's personality, but simply "this is the answer because I designed it that way". It is a pure guess or you had to have found the correct answer through guess-and-check or mining.

But the art's good, so.

More personalized story and Cardi has already did a choice with who to bust a nut in during the 3some. As a man of supreme culture, painting Nancy’s walls all day every day. That was my reasoning anyways for wanting a choice.
But you can absolutely have a more personalized story without entire branching paths and exclusive content that you have to replay the game to see.

Like your example, giving me the option to choose who to nut in during a 3some, etc is a very very different thing from having to abandon one girl's scenes entirely in order to get another's.

While I agree that more personalization and choices would be great for Eternum, i think they'd be better off as minor dialogue changes, control during sex (like who to nut in), etc rather than straight up "which girls content do you want to sacrifice" and making you replay the game.

Although I do appreciate your commetn because it does clarify that maybe a lot of people voting were just confused what exactly Caribdis even meant by "brancing paths" and yeah, just assumed it meant "more choices? yes please!"

About Thanatos, something is very sus, a couple of points:
  • Thanatos finds the first gem and dies IRL (AFAWK) shortly after, and then becomes the most famous and strongest Eternum player.
  • Thanatos invariably show up almost directly when a gem is found or if it trades hands.
  • Thanatos shows up on the Ogygia server hours after the the MC and co entered it through a hack which was only valid for 30 minutes. How did he do that and why, since there was no gem involved although one of the named weapons might be of interest to him.
  • Thanatos is talking down to the MC like an old warrior but is supposed to be a 20-something guy that has been dead for 5 years.
  • One of the last things Thanatos says to the MC before Calypso breaks the dimeritium-chains is *"You will be remembered when we build a better world, soldier"*. He uses the word *we*, which means there are more people involved.
If we take into account that the ownership of a gem is tracked by Ulysses it seems Thanatos has access to that information, if we also take into account he could access Ogygia hours after the hack expired it must have been Ulysses that facilitated his access.

As someone mentioned tongue-in-cheek quite a while ago, "William Bardot is Thanatos", which sounded a bit farfetched but is it really? I mean, not that Bardot is Thanatos but it is entirely possible Thanatos is played by someone that works for Bardot - like a mercenary or the like. We also know from the MC's meeting with Bardot at Alex's place that the he knows a great deal more about the nature of Eternum which further gives credence to him being behind Thanatos.

Also, considering everything else when it comes to Eternum and people becoming NPC's and MC's ability to jump between worlds it's entirely possible we have a " " situation - but that's an entirely different discussion.

And he left again. Something which we needed Caly to accomplish ourselves (at the time.)

Some notes:

-It's theorized that his ability to jump servers is due to having Hyas at his disposal. We know that the other Weapons of Atlas - Dione and Calypso - have a teleportation ability of some kind, so it's possible that Hyas has said ability as well (albeit not as powerful as that of Caly's portals).

-Another theory is that Wyatt is an Immortal like Orion and the Founder, which could explain how he is able to teleport freely and such. The only issue with this is that his teleportation doesn't seem to be instantaneous like Orion's as shown in him being late back in the World War server. However this could be attributed to him being dead so his teleportation ability could be gimped or compromised somehow.

-It's theorized that Wyatt is either working with William or the latter is feeding him information about the gems in order to prevent other players from acquiring the gems and foolishly giving them up to the Founder later on. Could somewhat explain the "we" talk back in Ekabar. This doesn't explain how he is able to track Orion's gem back in Ogygia tho, but then again it's possible that he has some sort of artifact for that or he could sense the location of a gem due to his undead nature (the dead seem to have some connection to the gems after all, as evidenced by the dead family at the Red Herring providing Orion with a Gem of Doom as a reward for his efforts).

Edit: Addendum:

-Everything being a simulation ala Thirteenth Floor undermines the revelation from the Andromeda tapes that people like the creators of Alien have been able to project into Eternum long before the founding of Ulysses or the creation of the VRMMO. That coupled with the revelations provided by William and Eternum's probable ties with Caly's story about Anima imply that Eternum has existed for a very long while, possibly even before humanity in the "real world" even existed.

Also it kinda undermines the point of this game being set in the same universe as "Once in a Lifetime" where the big reveal in that game is that magic and the supernatural exist in the setting, so any scifi component that this game has is essentially a smokescreen that masked its true nature, which we are now finding out in the recent updates.

I have finally completed my run of the current build, it was so enjoyable that i took the time to 100%.

I really liked and it even lifted up my spirit even with having bad news lately. I sincerely hope this game is finished with like a thunderstorm in Kredon to overshadow briefly the unstoppable rain.
