We still have majority of September and October, I'm sure that 0.9 will be completed by November. November first or second week is my guess

Worth remembering that there was a lot of churn from issues not related to 0.9's development during the month or two following the 0.8 release, so progress during that was heavily stunted. With the way it accelerated afterward we should be well on-pace for a November release even considering Cari always takes a bit longer with the last ~10%

It feels like the update speed is getting slower and slower. First it was 14-15 days for 6%. Then it was 17-18 days. Now it's 21 days for 6%, which is the longest I've ever seen. I know I shouldn't complain but is the next 6% going to take 24-25 days? I really hope the game could be finished in November.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I doubt Cari has a strong idea of how long the update will take at the start. Ideas for the story changes, new things get added or removed, and speed bumps get hit. He won't know how many exact renders, animations, or lines of code he is going to need.
If I had to guess, the 6% is just a rough estimate for a milestone, not actually 6.00% of the total render/animation/writing count reached. I wouldn't worry about it.

He finalizes the general outline for the update at the beginning, then just follows it without much change (though he does add or chage gags whenever he comes up with them during the course of development, but rarely do they mess up the overall structure of the update's story). So yes, he doesn't have a planned number of renders per update, but he does make a guesstimate depending on how big the update's story outline is.

Bingo. Development is not a linear affair, and any of these "XX% done!" shots we're getting are rough estimations at best. Things could go smoother than anticipated and come out sooner or, more likely, unexpected complications arise and the update takes a bit longer.

The point is that 78% in 232 days(like one dude commented) doesn't mean that Cari finished 0.33% each day, nor does it mean we havee ~66 days until the update is complete. It just means that after 232 days the update was roughly 78% finished.
