I only just started playing this one and I instantly had a thought during the early scene on the train when the MC is inner monologuing the shit out of things, particularly about Annie, Nancy and Dalia. Basically, did anyone else get a very strong "I am actually playing the game without an i-patch right now" kind of vibe from that bit of exposition? I mean, come freaking on! It would be "weird" to date one's "childhood friend" because "that's just not the kind of relationship they have?" And Nancy being the MC's "babysitter?" Come on, man...
It just feels like these relationships are haphazardly thrown into the game to cover up what would otherwise be an incest-centric set of relations, all to be fixed and thus revealed with the use of a handy little patch. And yet there is evidently no i-patch available for the game. None that I have seen at least...
...Am I just "overthinking" things here, or did anyone else get the same general vibe from that part of the game?
Edit: I know the game "isn't supposed to" have any incest in it, by the way. I am not totally clueless! (Just partially.) I just get that vibe, you know?

I get what you mean, especially if you only consider earlier versions (up to 0.4 or so). The whole incest thing is so prevalent in this niche of games that the idea of poorly disguised familial relationships warps the storytelling in so, so many of them; Cari might have defaulted to that sort of set up when he started (OiaLT was an incest game, afterall). However, I do think that he's been doing a great job of avoiding many of the clichés that grate on my nerves – you know, "I shouldn't, she's my landlady!" (So fucking what?) and so on – as he further develops his characters.Fellas, chill, I know "what's what" with the game. I am just saying that scene in particular gave me the distinct "I am playing the game without an i-patch" vibe. I know full well there is no incest in the game and that there never was any intention of such by the dev. Admittedly I didn't know it had been pointed out before, but honestly... I shouldn't be surprised. It was a pretty basic observation as far as those go.
...But anyway, my point was just that it felt like the dev (most likely unintentionally) wrote the scene in such a way that it gave off that particular feel. That's all.

In fact, his writing (thankfully) lacks all the nonsensical angst and artificial pudency that are hallmarks of the quasi-incestual game disguised with a veneer of conformity to Patreon's ToS. Nancy starts out withdrawn because of the age difference and her history with Orion (which is understandable), but the whole thing is resolved quite organically, rather than milked for "kink points", if you know what I mean. Orion's relationship with Annie and the Carters is explored in a way that feels like it is what it is said to be, rather than a stand-in for thinly veiled domestic life.
All in all, I can see people who love incest games patching this one and liking it, as it lends itself to it. Still, I think any overtones the original text might contain don't get in the way for people who aren't into the kink, like me.
TLDR: I do think you have a point, but the game quickly looses this "I am playing without an i-patch" vibe – and I'm glad for it.
