He entered as a projection so the system still works even if he didn't logged in via the normal way (likely has something to do with the implant flagging the system if your projection ends up in Eternum as a way to maintain the illusion of it being a game).

No, he had an OOBE. It's just that the system likely kicks in as a way to maintain the illusion of Eternum being an MMO in case a player suffers a severe bleeding effect and ends up in a case similar to Orion's.

If I remember that scene correctly, it was Idriel who dragged Orion to her realm. So would it be possible that the "portals" are her doing as well? If they are just a manifestation of her power it wouldn't be so strange that he can access his astral inventory when she calls him.

It's not actually clear if it's Idriel who drags Orion to Limbo or it's the former who wanders to that realm, tho I like to think that's the case given that it would explain the ReminiscecomwhatchafuckitIstillcantpronounceit vision of Orion meeting the Founder when he was still a kid.
As for Caly, it's possible that the Weapons are basically created by Idriel as some stealth way of providing Orion an edge against the Founder later on (with Caly being hidden amidst the weapons as the true ace in the hole), tho it's also possible that the Founder is already aware of this deception but doesn't give a shit as the weapons would ultimately speed up the acquisition of the gems and that he probably has countermeasures in place to deal with any disruption to the gem hunt.

Like sure, OIAL ended up being an enjoyable AVN overall, but peak HS1 graphics it is not when you compare it to the likes of Ripples and Pale Carnations (both of which use HS1 and both of which are heavily modded compared to OIAL*).
*Cari himself admitted as much in one of his posts on his Discord channel
If there's one thing that he pushed to the limit though, it would be his potato laptop, which is what he used when he worked on OIAL
(Damn the upscaling wiped out whatever lifelike expressions they had JFC)

The absence of life in the eyes is the worst thing that shows in these AI generated images, and honestly Nancy's hands in the group pics were creepy as hell.... imho of course.
I f anything this comparison definitely shows how much work and love was put in the game and that what's make it so good. Sorry don't take it personal, this post of mine is not meant as a personal attack to you, so I apologise if I sound rude it wasn't my intention, just my honest opinion.
