It only means more permutations without having any advantage for it. It is actually objectively a loss and a waste of development time.

I think whether it is a gain or loss depends on what the goal is:
If the goal is more story progression on a shorter timeline, but still meeting a minimum scene count, then I think having the split makes sense.
If the goal is to have unique scenes personalized for each girl, then I think having the split does not make sense.

I do agree that narratively I would find it sad that after all the effort that has gone into attending all the girl's activities (like attending Luna's party, the Halloween party, and then Nancy's office all in a row) we finally have a situation where we have to pick between them. It's not unreasonable; just sad

Personally, I think branching is an awful idea.
Dev has to spend extra time creating scenes that lots of players won't even see, unless they now create separate saves for each girl.
Which then means players have to play each update x amount of times just to see all scenes, whereas before they only had to play once to see everything.
It's a "harem" game, let us see all the relevant girls' scenes.

Agree with this, and we already had the example with Penny/Vampires and Luna/Werewolves even if it's not a lewd scene. I find the choice useless except to add a little flavor to choose between two girls, but is that really important? iirc, Luna has a sex scene after but not Penny in this update. For me, might as well split the screen time and only do Penny/Vampires. Luna's choice shouldn't even exist since she also has screen time with her sex scene. (Well and if I'm wrong about Penny, that doesn't really change anything. Just stick with only one choice because it seems so much more practical to me)
Instead of making 200 extra renders (random number) that force you to make a choice in a harem game, you can use these renders to either add something more in the update or even release the update earlier.
All this seems more time consuming than anything else in the end.

I feel the same despite me usually prefering branching stories over harems BUT if you go the harem route already than branching in the harem is just kinda annoying.

Even less as it imo (!) kinda felt logical and even canon to follow penny, firstly is luna simply was more experienced and stronger in eternum and secondly the whole "giving penny the dance orion owed her" felt very great and fitting and like a important step in the orion/penny relationship while the Luna trip was more on the comedic site and youre not really missing out much not taking it.

I hope you're all doing great!!!
Today I’ll be very brief, since I just have a quick question regarding future updates!

Here's the thing:
How would you feel about having to choose between two girls (once the relationship with them both has been already established) for a lewd scene? The scenes would be mutually exclusive, meaning you can pick one or the other, but that choice wouldn’t affect the romantic path with the girl you didn’t choose. It would only impact this one scene (and maybe a few future dialogues), so future intimate moments with either girl would still be possible.
In short, something like the werewolves/vampires choice in 0.8, but featuring gallery lewd scenes instead. (Also, keep in mind the gallery would show both scenes unlocked after watching them in any playthrough in any case).
I could make it possible to view both scenes in a single playthrough, but this might affect the pacing, maybe making things feel a bit rushed. Of course, if you prefer that option, I’ll do my best to make things flow smoothly, no worries!

Current vote count is 56-44 in favor of branching (and imo it's the better choice, it adds replayability and doesn't force Cari to somehow fit everything in one narrative arc).

Imo the appeal anal is the degradation aspect of it so it works best with high and mighty or masochist characters (and Dalia cause extra thicc).

The way things have been, it would probably be the girls idea to try anal. Orion will definitely be down for it, but so far I don´t think he ever forced or pushed them into anything, even though he´s always in the mood for it. I would be happy with those four choices (to be honest, any choice would be great, I just have my preferences).

I won´t complain if it does, but I doubt it. Unless Orion teases her that Dalia took it harder than her and Penny let´s him do it just to one-up her.

So by my understanding if the branching works like the werewolf scene then what people are mad about?? it doesnt affect the plot and if you want to see the other scene just save before the branching start thats all, its not like a certain popular game with multiply branches like diving down a rabbit hole. and i hate branching also and prefer a straight forward story but if branching like the werewolf/dracula scene then its not really a bother imo.

I’m not an expert, but I believe that once you set up a certain render or animation, i.e. pose the characters, set up the lighting, etc. it’s not that hard or time consuming to re-run that render/animation with another character skin. So our two branching scenes would be the same scene... just with a different LI skin. Minimal increase to development time, but now you get to pick which of the girls you want.

I disagree with this mildly when it comes to the first part -- I personally think that branching is fine if it serves the story or makes the pacing of an update better.

But I disagree pretty strongly on the second part. You may be right about the technical aspects (I don't know, I've not poked around with HS very much at all), but I hate scenes like that. It's very damaging to the characters and story to just treat them as interchangeable dolls, plus IMO it ruins any replay of the scene after the first, because I feel like the dev just didn't care at that point.

But that's just me.

I agree that branching will be a welcome addition if the total amount of scenes increased per update, but not of it “locks” a sex scene behind save-scumming.
Eternum is a kinetic harem, there’s barely any quantitative benefit to branching content.

If this poll ends in favour of branching, then the fans over at Patreon haven’t really thought this through and just assume that they’ll get more total scenes = more total cooming opportunities… even if you’ll have to reload saves to get them.

It is demanding and intense but if, if you like it (and not everybody does), it can be good once in a while. If the other person knows what they're doing. And you also know what you're doing. And there's enough trust. And you're careful. And have prepared for it.

Anal is also a bit trickier in Honey Select because the collider options aren't nearly as robust as they are for the vagina. I certainly haven't seen a way to avoid really bad clipping, but I also have a suspicion that Cari's animator is using software outside of HS studio neo, so they might have a way of getting around it.
