Maybe. Watching his back only would've helped against the ogre, though. In the prison, no teammate could save you from a javelin to the face. In the heist, being next to the Repeaters didn't save him from getting sniped. I still think it was making cloth gloves 7,000 times that got him his "levels".

Considering that Jerry doesn't seem like the kind of person who is patient (much less humble enough) to do that kind of no-life behavior it's more likely that he throws himself at whatever hard challenge there is in order to gain his levels (as IIRC Cari said on Discord that the harder the quest the higher the exp), and that running with parties/faction mates* who are unaware of his less than savory behavior likely helped with that.

*I mean he IS part of the WRE, so there's likely no shortage of people gullible or green enough to party up with him

Come to think of it..does Eternum even have low-level starter quests for newbies to grind exp? Or do they have to rely on luck/strong party members to carry them through quests? Because based on Orion’s own progression, it seems to be the latter case.

I imagine those starter worlds have tutorial quests for newbies to get buff on, before you head out to other worlds. Plus you have places like Warthogs where you can learn and train. I think Luna said she spent a few years there, iirc.

Orion is a special case because his friends already grinded up the hard way. So they're carrying him, plus his 100 percent synchronicity is probably like an xp multiplier. And he's got his demon mode. He just skipped the standard newbie experience.

Yes, exactly. Even if they had removed them at some point (which we know isn't true, Warthog's being a great example), they must have had started with some things for low-level players. When it first went live for everyone, how would a single person ever get any levels if everything relied on high-level players already in place?

It's possible. Honestly, I was mostly joking about the low-level repetitive stuff, though. That couldn't get you very far, ofc; once you level enough, that stuff is too mundane to help you. To be completely serious, I think he cheats. It's not in the hacker way similar to Nova, though. I think he's discovered (either himself or more likely through online forums or w/e) exploits in the game that haven't been fixed yet.

I'm guessing it would be sort of like the Ancient Dragon in Dark Souls II. If it ever touches you (by any of its attacks), you die immediately. But if you play against it long enough, you learn its patterns and can defeat it. You learn to telegraph its attacks and when to back away (and how far to go), and you can even get it into an AI loop so it repeats the same things over and over. When you know what it's gonna do, it becomes incredibly easy to beat. So I actually think it's more likely he does crap like that to level himself up.

...How far are you into the story, exactly? Coz if you finished up to the latest update, you'd understand why that isn't exactly possible.

I imagine Idriel would be the one guiding newbies to servers that're more newb-friendly, then providing suggestions on how to proceed once the player becomes more comfortable or accustomed to their skills/abilities. Other than that, it's likely up to the player on how to progress through the game, and given the true nature of Eternum I'm sure the Founder really intended the players to basically do whatever to achieve that so long as they don't disrupt the hunt in any significant way.

I had this on my list of games to start playing for forever (ever since Once in a Lifetime), but I only finally got around to starting it Sunday. I'm on Update 6 now, so I still have a ways to go. I'm not reading your spoiler (keeping my eyes looking down too far on the screen to see) so I don't get anything given away. I have not played the latest update; I expect I'll be done probably in the next couple of days, but for sure by this coming weekend. (I just learned about Wyatt being dead but somehow in Eternum now — as Thanatos ofc — so there's still a lot I will have revealed to me, I'm sure.)

Not really, because of what Eternum is. There are schools -such as Warthogs- where the teachers (often or maybe exclusively other players) safeguard the recruits (makes it easier for newbs) and teach/train them. However since Eternum is... what it is, the player must choose their quests and servers carefully (difficulty differs greatly depending on whether you got to a quaint suburb or Normandy beach, 1944). On a side note, Jerry's was probably legit. His issue is more fundamental; he has tunnel vision and treats Eternum like any other RPG. Not to mention he's overly arrogant and looks down on all the newbies because he is "high leveled and they aren't" yet he refuses to accept reality after losing his levels because "he was high level". If he was able to focus on what needed to be done instead of MC (one-sided arch-nemesis) and Dalia (puppy love) he wouldn't have died in the prison.
As for why I made this intentionally vague in places, IYKYK.

I am blown away by how addicting this game is. Really great concept and well executed so far. I have been playing for days now and don't think I'm even half way through the already released content. I would love to leave a review but don't see the option to do it.

This update will give you a cozy Christmas break with some of the girls before your mission throws you back into the fire. So take your time and enjoy your well deserved rest! Let's just hope nothing unexpected happens during your stay...

This won't be the final arc of the update, though. As you know, this will be one of the biggest updates yet, full of many different events, scenarios, and moments with your favorite girls!

If you love variety, you’re going to be spoiled!

You'll be getting more info about the final scenes of 0.9 in the upcoming sneak peeks. Expect either one last batch of them or (most likely) two smaller ones before release.

Right now, the stats stand at +1,350 renders, +45 animations, and over +13,000 lines of code already completed.

I can't give you an estimated date yet, but I trust I can finish everything before the end of the year.
