Dou you think we'll get a scene with her? Cause I'm begging for it, seriously.

I hope so, I thought she was super cute.
Maybe they'll make a business transaction out of it, who knows?

I'm not sure. If we do, it'd be whenever the Polyjuice Potion is ready for pickup. She mentioned Orion fully testing how the potion transformed her whenever they get more.
Didn't we get the Polyjuice already in the Pirate server? Or did we just give them a deposit? I can't recall.

Couple of issues with logic
1. You can kill but you can't rape. Does someone regulate how fast you can kill? If you killing someone too slow, is it against the rules? What the point in the game with so much restriction?
2. You can't have sex with NPC. It's like disabling your car to move backward.
3. You can't change the appearance. This feature completely destroy the whole logic of gaming. Not everyone can be young supermodels.
4. Eternum is the only game with no competition.

Is it all acceptable?

You also can't torture, so probably. Agreed it's a curious code of ethics. But the distinction is that "killing" another player just acts as a reset, while rape or torture are things they actually experience.

I don't think it "completely destroy(s) the whole logic of gaming," because the ability to participate in arbitrary fantastic scenarios itself is going to be a huge draw to players, even if you have to play as yourself. But I nonetheless agree (if Eternum were what it's claimed to be, which it isn't) that this is an odd restriction--wouldn't it be desirable to many people with disabilities to be able to play without them?
Eternum is the only game with no competition.
Someone doesn't remember Myst, I see. But surely "find the Gems of Doom" is competition? And, of course, all kinds of competitions take place within Eternum--so while Eternum itself doesn't have much of a competitive aspect if you aren't seeking one of the Gems, there are lots of smaller-scale competitions you can get into inside it.

I mean, in this world there is only one game developer who can make something like Eternum. There should be other games (competitors) with more freedom.

How far are you into the story? Coz the reasons for points 1 to 3 are pretty much story-related and will be touched upon later on.

As for point 4, the reason for this is because Ulysses as of the timeline of the story has pretty much bought out every major corporation that they deem as competition. Netflix, Amazon, Google...those are pretty much under Ulysses now.

Really? Coz I feel like the logic is quite simple: player retention is good for the Gem Hunt. Anything disrupting player retention such as rape and torture is NOT good for the Gem Hunt. Therefore, said disruption must be eliminated so players can focus on the Gem Hunt (or contribute to helping their fellow players who are participating in the Gem Hunt).

But letting players kill other players would also disrupt player retention, wouldn't it? It'd doubtless depend (at least somewhat) on the context in which they're killed, but a player who's arbitrarily killed, especially repeatedly, is likely to get discouraged.

Yeah but given what Eternum actually is, which is not a game actually, means that's probably something the Founder can't enforce, even if he'd like to.

IIRC Players can't kill other players in major hubs tho. Not sure why rape doesn't count as an "attack," but I'm guessing it's because the act doesn't count as "hostile" behavior otherwise sex between players will be seen as such, so that matter is given to Praetorians patrolling the hubs instead.

Also players getting killed repeatedly and quitting is likely less of a disruption as opposed to rape which could happen in non-combat hubs (and therefore is an issue since Ulysses would likely want their player hubs to be safe havens where players could congregate without issue). And given the nature of the game, it's not as if Ulysses has the power to turn that shit off anyway.

Non-combat and private servers exist so it's not as if players don't have the option to skip that shit if they want...unless that server ends up getting hit by Xenomorphs, anyway. :HideThePain:

I'm confused. Does the limitation works only in hubs? You can play maniac in other locations?

Hubs and Non-Combat servers (both Public and Private). Outside of those it's likely fair game (if that scene with Maat in the Valley of Kings server was any indication).

That is only true if having the maximum number of players is the most efficient way to find the gems. Given what we have seen, that is unlikely to be the case. If the gems were simply spread out and hidden under rocks on some distant planet in the far reaches of Andromeda then it would just be a numbers game, but it appears that the gems can be entangled in serious trials like the one the MC faced in Red Herring. It stands to reason that the original trials to get the gems take physical and or mental fortitude. That means to actually get the gems, it would be best to have a large number of players but especially appeal to the competitive strong type. That type of person would likely enjoy the PvP style much more and that is probably why in game killing is allowed. Any serious sexual abuse would likely turn away the more casual players, so to attract the large numbers it is banned

I´ve up to date with the story, but can you please elaborate on that? Put it as spoiler if you want to, but I´d like to know because the questions made me curious, as this is something I never really thought about and I can´t come up with an answer right now.

Ah. But in that case, even if Eternum is what Ulysses says it is, the investment to create it would be massive. It isn't at all surprising that there wouldn't be another game from a competing company that would be similar in concept to Eternum, because there wouldn't be another company with the massive budget to create it. And that's assuming that Eternum is what they say it is, and, well, it isn't quite that simple.

So.... did no one bother posting the text from Caribdis' most recent post on Patreon? Unless no one did because there's nothing important?

For point 1, restrictions are there because Ulysses likely deem those as disruptive to the Gem Hunt. A few stragglers are likely okay as they could be dealt with by Praetorians and be set as examples to the general populace when punished, but overall Ulysses likely doesn't want the "game" to devolve into a complete sandbox, not when the point of the VRMMO is to aid the Founder in his quest for the gems and to foster a competitive atmosphere as a means to accelerate the hunt.

For point 2, having sex with NPCs could potentially break the programming of their implants and bring back their original personalities or memories of when they were alive, potentially exposing the truth about the VRMMO to the public, which Ulysses obviously wouldn't want to happen.

For point 3, appearance isn't changeable coz of existing lore and media depictions regarding astral projections, which in almost all depictions are a 1:1 copy of the person's actual body.
