I got a crc mismatch while extracting and game is crashing on launch. I'll post full traceback if needed.
While running game code:
File "renpy/common/00start.rpy", line 288, in script
python:
ScriptError: could not find label 'start'.

That wasn't enough, we can never get enough of this game, or who can, stop joking, you're not funny, also in that scene the camera angle seemed a little far away, a little closer or POV view would have been better, and the climax when he fucks her doggy style, the MC blocks the view of Dalia's beautiful ass, the scene wasn't very well done in my opinion, in that part the MC's entire ass blocks the view hahah, come on man who wants to see that, I'm coming for Dalia's ass

Wut? Thought it's established from current evidence that Eternum isn't a videogame to begin with ((Andromeda Tapes revealing that the creators of Alien had an out-of-body experience that led them to Eternum - specifically the Andromeda "server" - where they then encountered Xenomorphs, the mysterious dude at the Ulysses party mocking Orion for thinking Eternum was a "videogame," Axel saying that Eternum isn't a "game" due to the tech required to run it being non-existent based on his investigation, William revealing that the Founder discovered Eternum and created the implant so that normies are able to project themselves there without having to rely on the typical methods to induce an out-of-body experience (dreaming, meditation, hallucinogenic substances, having a near-death experience) while also masking the entire process as if they're logging into a VRMMO, that entire thing about Immortals being able to jump in and out of Eternum even with their physical bodies hence Caly thinking that Orion was one)), but rather a sort of astral realm where dreamers wander and where the spirits of the dead could be seen, as per current definitions...

The idea also has ties to Greek Mythology, where it is believed that the dream world could be found in the underworld.

And given Cari's knack for referencing Greek Myths throughout the game (i.e. Orion's character mirroring elements of his mythological counterpart, the whole Greek Myth naming scheme throughout the game like Ulysses and Thanatos and Penelope), it wouldn't surprise me if this is him drawing inspiration from the matter.

IIRC 0.1 the mysterious caller at the telephone booth described them as "gates," but was then changed at some point to just "doors" (along with the added mention of "breaking the chains," which heavily implies that the caller could be Idriel or one of the Syndicate). The idea kinda stuck tho, hence why I'm referring to them as "gates."
Damn, how many times have you played this game to remember this much?
Can you explain what you mean by Andromeda Tapes and Alien? Are we talking about the movie franchise, is it something within Eternum? So the Founder found a way to make an implant that grants access to this Dream Realm? And then people play it and when they login, their information gets stored and when they die, they stay there as NPCs or in those boxes you mentioned? I wonder who those Immortals are and how they found out that they were that in the first place.

Yeah, I can see it has so much more, it was just the whole thing of the collect things to get power over the whole thing and Acheron coming up so early.
Really looking forward to seeing how this develops.
lol ready player one is basically a young adult contemporary of Spy Kids 3. which is really just a video game version of willy wanka. every story that uses basic human desires as a jump off point for the story is going to have similarities. honestly Eternum isnt like any of those, if anything it is the holy grail of transmigration novels.

I meant the tapes that you pick up in Andromeda where Isaac noted his investigation on why Xenomorphs are indiscriminately attacking people on the server (even in the designated non-combat areas). He mentioned in one of the tapes that he thought it was an event in partnership with the creators of Alien, but the latter denied it. It's during this convo that the creators casually remarked that they dreamt of a similar scenario with the Xenomorphs a long time ago (hence where they got the inspiration for their design to begin with), which prompted Orion into thinking that the creators dreamt of Eternum prior to the creation of Alien (which at the time he dismissed as an impossibility since Ulysses and the implant weren't created yet, not realizing that it foreshadowed the revelation later about Eternum not being a game).

The event also gives a sort of explanation as to why there are assets of different IP floating around Eternum. Basically, it's a reverse Ready Player One/Fortnite scenario where it's implied that Eternum is the true source of various IPs as they're basically discovered by dreamers and then brought into the real world through various forms of media (with the dreamers thinking that they're the ones who came up with the concepts when in reality they're basically just copying things they've seen when they have an out-of-body experience and travelled to Eternum).

So the Founder found a way to make an implant that grants access to this Dream Realm?
Yes.

My crackpot theory is that the implant has 2 functions: a) induce a player into some sort of deep sleep that makes inducing an out-of-body experience easier, and b) act as a tracker so that Ulysses is able to keep tabs on players in the real world. Second function is based on the fact that William seems to be aware as to where Orion and Nan went following their snooping at the latter's office. As for pulling "players" into the Nexus, the inventory system, the magic system, the whole porting across multiple servers...all of those are likely run by Idriel (who I'm guessing is either Anima or used to be her before she was reborn as Idriel in Eternum). So basically no tech wizardry involved, just plain ol' magic.

As for the boxes (assuming the theory is true about those)...doubt that's Ulysses or Idriel's doing. I'm of the opinion that that's something that's been going on in Eternum for a while now, and that the Founder is simply exploiting the plane's current state in his quest to collect the gems.

I started this Game/VN a few days ago. Gotta say it's fun and very addictive.

I think I'm approaching the end of the existing content. I'm at the date with Anne.

I notice this was last updated in July.

I have a question for those of you who have been following this VN: How often does the Dev usually update? I ask so I can set my expectations accordingly.

Thx

7 1/2 - 8 months usually. This current update's dev cycle is particularly cursed tho (what with the dev losing prog time due to replacing a chunk of Eternum's music coz the royalty free site where he gets his music changed ToS so that AVN devs aren't able to use their music no more), so dev time's a bit longer than the dev himself would've liked (his words on Discord, not mine).

new here, this is my 1st time playing, I read the changelog and few times new images animations lines of codes etc were added
which means he's adding more story chapters? or improvising or what? Should i wait and let version 1/ completed tag come, bcz I hate cliffhangers and would rather wait once and for all (really difficult btw, the game is GOATED) please tell me. Thank you.

If you're seeing the changelog being updated, then that means the AVN is having more episodes added. Now, to answer your question: Caribdis is the king of cliffhangers, so if you really hate those, while also knowing there will be about 4-5 more updates... I suggest you skip this one until 2030. While nothing it's certain, I'm convinced that Eternum will be completed by that time.

I think I understand. You mention Anima, is that someone we supposed to know? That name doesn´t ring any bells for me.

You're making Caly sad lol...

screenshot0230.png screenshot0231.png

She's Caly's ancestor, the elven queen in her storybook-esque tale who got chained by the evil king before she was saved by the Eldari who's using the Gems of Doom (though jury's still out if that bit of info is legit or just Caly projecting Orion onto the Eldari). Given the parallels she has to Idriel (both being chained and used by men of power), I'm guessing they're either one and the same or it's a Wheel of Time scenario where she used to be Anima but got reincarnated and is now suffering the same fate as before. Regardless, it's something that we'll probably find out in 0.9 now that Orion is in Hyril'ar.
