This guy thinks he is experiencing Eternum withdrawals, but he doesn't know the meaning of the word like we do.
I feel like it's gonna hit hard for me when I finally get thru what there is of the game and what's to come in the next update. Currently around halfway thru after playing it just this year, but not at all during the summer (was kinda hard to force such a long break on myself but i got thru it somehow lol). Luckily it's still fresh on my memory despite the 3 or 4 months I've taken away from it. I remember I was just about to leave from the trip, I just have to go downstairs and that's all. that's where I stopped, a bit of a cliffhanger but not that bad. Just didn't go all the way thru that arc. And I'm gonna take my time as I get back into it, aiming to finish off wherever the new update comes out. Whether that's around the holidays or February next year, since there's no way to know 100%. And I'll probably play through the next update over the course of a few months again up to summer next year. Then I play the real waiting game. But patience is my strong suit and I have PLENTY of things across all of my hobbies and other things to keep me occupied, so I'm not even stressed or worried like even a sliver. I'm sure it must be harder for those who've been playing for much longer or even since the beginning like when OIAL was just finished. Or maybe not since you get used to the wait? IDK haha.
My god, the music restoration mod is an absolute necessity for this game to really be complete. One of the best aspects of the game was how perfectly the music fit every single one of the scenes. Playing it without the original tracks just wasnt the same.
I've wondered about this. So I know people have made playlists with the original songs and tracks on youtube, I did actually save those. yet to listen to them. And there is the restoration mod. And while I feel like it'd be cool to experience it with the original OST that it had, my dilemma is this: Doesn't it clash with other mods? The phone and walkthrough mod(s) I'm using now, I think one or the other said they don't work with other mods outside of each other. And then there's the next updates, and I don't wanna mess things up, I'm worried about compatibility there. And tbh, I know there's bias on both sides, but I haven't really had any issues with the game's bgm up to this point, and the vocal songs during scenes fit really well imo. It's unfortunate what happened and caused the changes to be made, but they seem to have handled it quite well, taking it in strides and being able to roll with the punches. Very gracefully. I do understand though. Like, you played this game and experienced it a certain way for YEARS with certain tracks, then later on, they got taken away for copyright and the game changed, thus changing any experiences you'll have of it in the future. I'd be pretty upset too, and most likely would be using a restoration mod as well if I was around for the game much earlier. I would try a separate version of the game in another folder entirely, with the restoration mod, but it's just like, it would take up more space on my computer, that I need tbh. And I also don't want to get rid of the saves I have, or change anything in terms of mods on it. I will maybe just listen to that playlist once I finish playin thru 0.9. I went with the one I did when I first got the game (0.8.6) because it's a change that's going to be in every future update til the game is finished, and it's better to just stick with the official releases for me personally. That's my logic.
This is one of the few games on this site where the time taken to put out an update is worth the wait.
...
So please, those who are new to this thread and wonder at the length of time between updates - know that there is a good reason behind it: When the updates finally drop, they are well-done, rarely with any bugs (I have yet to experience one), and just SOOOO GOOOOOOOD.
Foreal, dude SAME. I love how bug-free this game is. I've experienced zero bugs or glitches, and for a game this huge, you'd expect several to be present. Because of how smooth the experience is in the game now with all the content it has, I think it goes without saying that bugs/glitches that may pop up in the future update(s), we'll be super easygoing and forgiving. Plus, they must do extensive testing, so I doubt anything game-breaking would occur anyways. Between this and the thought and care put into dialogue, they deserve all the kudoses in the world. The english professor in me rarely ever triggered when I played it, and that is saying a lot!
And I can add a simple point, even if caribdis would actually milk by increasing dev time,he's a one of a few devs with a great income who actually moves through the story without dozens of empty filler updates as some of actual milkers do,and actually wants to finish the game
THIS. I don't have any reason to suspect any milking, but god yes on the empty filler updates, you hit the nail on the head. A lot of games are definitely milking, putting out nothing burger updates as frequently as possible, asking for as much money as possible, like drip-feeding content, and you can tell just by looking at them, they plan on keeping that up till kingdom come, and never giving a resolution to the story, or lack thereof. And some of them need to have their services shut down, and find another job. I hear McDonald's is hiring! xD wal-mart too! And those are valid and respectable jobs too

they put food on the table and pay the bills, so.. I'm not dissing anyone who works there, I'm just saying haha. They're very accessible jobs that don't require a ton of training, higher education or trade skills, and a good place to start for anyone, or while waiting for a better job; one more suited to the individual.
I'm rambling atp xD lemme stop myself
