I have a question tho. Why would someone need balls to leak the newest version? It's not like they will get arrested, or will they? From what I have read I looks like some people would fear leaking. I may be my imagination.
Not balls. Bills. Once you realize leaks don’t pay rent, courage mysteriously disappears.

Coz IMO it takes some cojones to pay $100+ for a DL sub with the intent of leaking an update, especially since doing so will net you a permaban from Cari's Discord and Patreon/SS if found out (plus it's a touchy subject for Cari since he sees leaking a full update to be a bigger crime than leaking sneaks and shit).

Now if you don't care for any of that, then more power to you since at the end of the day this IS a pirate site and leaking shit is a way of life here. But yeah, as Padoru said some people just respect Cari enough to not do it (though like everyone else who hangs around here we obviously wouldn't say no to free lunch when it inevitably shows up).

Particularly since you'd probably be found out decently quick, depending on how many people do a one month sub when an update drops and then cancel immediately.

Why would someone pay +100 bucks for DL just to leak the update and annoy Cari?
It's not really about annoying devs(well, not for most people, I'm sure there are a few out there who do it for that reason). Most people who leak do it either for a) some type of community clout, b) the ability to talk about the updates in a wider community, or c) some principle about everyone having free access to things. It differs from person to person, but those are typically the reasons you see people cite when asked about motivations for piracy.

I know its not just for annoying Caribdis, but in a way he brought to us this magnificent work of art, and doing so just for those 3 reasons seems pretty rude to me. It's not like you are leaking FIFA 26, you are harming a single person that probably economically depends on this game.

By and large I agree. I've always disliked the idea of depriving independent creators, particularly ones whose work you enjoy. I know that probably comes across a little ironic given we're on a pirate forum, but to be perfectly honest I come here because it's the best place to discuss the games I love; the early and free access is just a perk. Itch and Steam comment sections are too insular to really have discussions, and the live chats of Discord are just too much for me to regularly keep up with; plus, it has much stricter character limits, and I'm not exactly very succinct.

It's everyone's choice whether or not to give money to creators for a game - in a perfect world either we would all have enough money to freely support who we choose, or they wouldn't need money at all and could produce for free - but I've never fully understood why someone who thoroughly enjoys a piece of media would willingly leak it to the public when they know it will cost the creators and hamper their ability to keep making it. I guess everyone's brains just work different.

At the beginning of the year there was also an update from a popular AVN with a $100 price tag, and that thing was leaked in less than an hour. In a pirate forum, anything is possible — that’s exactly why we’re here.

That said, I’m generally not a fan of these gigantic price tags for a day-one download, especially from devs who already have a large community and a solid subscriber base. Trying to prevent a leak is ultimately just an illusion anyway. Wouldn’t it be far more productive to make day one accessible to interested new subscribers without these exaggerated prices? Sure, the leak might happen faster, but with a lower price point and a popularity level like Eternum’s, you would 100% gain new subscribers as well, which would offset that — on top of the nearly 8,000 paying members already there. From a logical standpoint, I just can’t understand this approach at all.

making more than 20k a month, when some people who pay that dl tier make 10 times less and still suport him? i know people living with 750$ a month. My point is when you make 20k and get angry for a few hundreds, thats something else not respect related, on the contrary
I don't think he makes 20k a month, probably is 20k a year, which in spain is roughly enough to live in a city

The logic being that each tier serves as a way to ideally limit the amount of people playing the game so that bugfixing is less of a hassle with fewer people sending reports and Cari having time to iron it out per tier release. So by the time it reaches the tiers with the more numerous subs, most of the bugs would've been ironed out and Cari wouldn't be swamped with people sending bug reports that might end up being redundant with one another.

And yes, he still works during the tier release phases up until Public Release which is basically the most polished version of the update.
