No, 0.8.5 is the Public Release with the original music. What you're describing is 0.8.6, which is the newer version with some of the original music removed and replaced with AI stuff.

Also the music was removed because the royalty free site where Cari got the music sent a CnD saying he breached the revised ToS for using said music on pornographic content, so he had no choice but to oblige. He did not remove it due to copyright infringement, as he purchased that music for use in Eternum fair and square.

Music restoration isn't gonna remove stuff like the Andromeda music in 0.8 which Cari said was AI generated from the start...



...nor is it going to remove AI music that'll likely be used for the next updates moving forward (though that likely will be supplemented with some commissioned works), especially now that royalty free music publishers are starting to become hostile towards AVN devs using their music for adult-oriented work (which was why they sent the CnD to Cari and why he had to change the music to begin with). /shrugs

For anyone who is curious I have pulled apart the Eternum files and created a spreadsheet of all the changed tracks (I'm fairly sure I found all of them as I used software to compare old files and new files and also cross referenced both versions of the game). I consolidated all my finding in a spreadsheet which has the original track name from the 0.8 version of the game, the tech name that the game files use for any of you techies who might want them and also a short description of where in the game the track can be found (SPOILERS BEWARE).

Just the one, I think. It's likely that Cari was already thinking about using AI to supplement Eternum's soundtrack (tho prolly 1 - 2 tracks per update) but the recent CnD made him switch gears.

Is there a way to make it so that future updates are released as a patch that adds content to the already downloaded game? That way anyone who has the old version with the original music would keep that, and the content from 0.9 and onwards would contain non-copyrighted music that doesn't get Caribdis in trouble. That way Cari would also keep his hands clean, as the only versions available for download on itch and patreon etc. are the "clean" versions (0.8 after the music has been replaced, and 0.9, 0.10 etc. as patches with allowed music). OG fans could then come to f95zone etc. and find the original 0.8 with the real music if they so desire.

Tbh ai music is better than images or videos, for a unique atmosphere and copyrights this slops can be very useful and handy for devs..

I still think, i'd rather have none and wait until he can hire a composer or at the very least just use a royalty free placeholder. I still like Eternum but the fact that AI is present on this is staining it. If Caribdis has no choice but to use AI then he has no choice. Its on me for not knowing sooner that he's started adding AI shit.
