I'm really wondering about the worldbuilding right now, considering Annie is only one of 40 million concurrent players
She is supposed to be one of the most powerful in all of Eternum though. That was always the running gag with everybody who doesn't know her level thinking she is weak and "useless", when in reality she could probably beat everybody outside of Thanatos himself (or maybe even him, who knows). That is part of the suspension of disbelieve that almost all the girls are among the most powerful characters in the world. At least Annie, Dalia, Luna and Nova clearly are, while Penny and Nancy are of course still very new players but Nancy kinda circumvent the whole level power curve by becoming a powerful ruler in Eternum without actually having to level up a lot.

What I mean is that everything made in Eternum has a real world cost attached to it, but there are players who can cast magic several thousand times stronger than the strongest nuclear bombs whenever they want. Do the Praetorians step in before mass destruction of property happens? But the only things against the rules in Eternum are torture and sexual assault. But then Cornelius Garrington said Ulysses really doesn't care. Was Annie only allowed to use that magic because of the competition? What's to stop terrorists from blowing up and causing billions of Eternals in damage and killing millions of people? To balance out with magic, physical users like MC or Dalia would need to be moving several times faster than the speed of light at their potential peak. This is an unprecedented upscale that I just can't wrap my head around. It was stated a while ago that MC was the strongest among them too

Considering that it's implied that Idriel has some sort of prescience/future sight, I'm sure she's able to send Praetorians after anyone who's about to rock the boat too much, especially if not doing anything about it is going to delay the hunt for the gems in some way.

I think so far we haven't really seen many normal "users" showing to be exceptionally powerful. So a terrorist would have to level up in hiding, never doing anything etc. and we also know that there are ways to deactivate magic altogether. And of course in the end everything is just part of a game (at least as far as the normal user is considered), so dying just means restarting with a new character.

Yes and no. The weapons of Atlas work anywhere despite local server rules. Wouldn't surprise me if the NPC control box did also. P sure Orions zippy / strong powers still work on no-magic servers as well.

I'll do you one better. ALL (or most) magic in Eternum comes from Idriel herself, just channeled through players she selects herself

But those weapons are extremely rare and are also no weapons of mass destruction. I mean...I don't know if Dione can be transformed into a mobile nuke or whatever... :HideThePain:

....and her barrier resisted it completely.....and Calypso is several times stronger than that.....I think this is total powerscaler death....
Besides... couldn't Annie have blown up the Predators on the Andromeda server? Or at least put up a barrier and protected herself and Orion? I know this discussion is silly because the author will write whatever they see fit to tell their story. Caribdis wanted to finally put the magic pendant to use and highlight how Annie is scared shitless of anything related to horror.
So, Annie did nothing to stop the Predators and was lucky that her precious pendant given to her by her lover was actually magical and saved them at the end of their awesome date.

I also think Annie nuking the entire server and killing hundreds of thousands of Predators was a bit much. But eh, Annie being a cute little woman with nuclear power is funny. Imagine if they went to a restaurant in Eternum and the waitress forgot her fries and flirted with Orion and then Annie imagined herself blowing up the entire server and then came back to reality as if she just had been a little distracted. Lol. I can already see the funny scenes that will come when everyone realizes how powerful Nuke Little Annie really is.

I mean, they ARE high up in a space station so going nuclear could've resulted in it blowing up and leaving them stranded in space where the barrier might've not lasted long and they eventually die suffocating from the vacuum.

Well, that, or Annie was just too scared to think straight. :HideThePain:

You could make the argument that Idriel and the Syndicate planned all that shit in advance so Orion would end up being allied with the most powerful players in the game and improve his chances in succeeding with the task he's meant to do. The effort also probably is a once in a lifetime (heh) moment which is why Idriel sounded bitter when the 0.7 incident happened. :HideThePain:

I mean, she doesn't need to blow up the entire station with everything inside. Can't Annie just explode the predators without using too much power? Is she Megumin? Lol. That would be hilarious.

>Hey, Annie, can you knock out that villain? Sure, Orion.

That's probably the joke, yeah. Her magic is just too explosive that cramped spaces are the bane of her existence. :HideThePain:

I think most people did not get the joke that the explosion was indeed big and left a big crater in the area but it was exaggerated to be more outrageous
