How does the library progress x/33 even work? I spent literal months just spamming library and preparing for classes and didn't get a single point progress and then sometimes randomly going to the library one week will add a point ?
Does this even do anything?

It's a very basic system and hasn't been improved since the original game. The library, preparing for classes, and going to class, all increase knowledge. You have to have a minimum amount of knowledge to pass your university classes. If your knowledge is already high, it won't increase. This is why they rarely produce results.

Looking at the code, players were only meant to prepare for classes and visit the library occasionally. This area of the game could certainly be improved I agree.

Have you managed to survive and thrive while actually engaging in school for the full hours every school day?

The system has been silly since I can remember where you start with perfect or near perfect knowledge score and many of the things you think would result in a loss of it such as skipping class don't lower the score but when I 'fixed' it on a test branch the school start scenarios become either doomed to failure because there weren't enough hours in the day to both educate yourself and feed yourself or just becomes anti-fun as you spend the entire span of education becoming an obese heavily in debt friendless loser.

I don't think Mega give a shit, the updates are still on there so it's more likely one of the old devs either cleaned up their Mega folder or their hosting expired from lack of them using it.

I've played a couple game weeks as a student. The first thing I did (outside of classes) is to get access to Tony (the drug dealer). You could do this by building up a relationship with the addicts in your class (needs 50+ relation) or by playing against Tony in the strip club (requires taking out a loan at the bank first).

My daily schedule as a student is work out in the mornings, go to class, football in the evening, sell steroids at the fitness center*, learn programming on the computer, and finally girls. After a while of nothing really changing, I checked the code briefly and couldn't find any reason to attend university. The diploma does absolutely nothing.

As for your grades, it depends on the percentage of time you pay attention (not distracted at 70+ horniness) in class. It doesn't depend on total knowledge level (ie not dependent on total number of classes attended) at all. Studying in the library or outside of class is only for making up for times that you show up to class distracted.

In regards to football, your results are almost entirely dependent on the number of times you attend training. Scoring a goal is 0.1% or 1% chance depending on how many training sessions you've attended. Your pay is dependent on the number of training sessions attended (and whether or not you scored a goal). Your stats have no influence at all.

* Selling steroids will net you 50 per dose if demand (randomly chosen from 1 to 5) is higher than supply (the amount of steroids you have on you).

Ah. I forgot about the steroids for 50 thing, I think I reported it as a bug years ago due to text not matching the numbers behind the scenes only to have the result be making the text match the big number rather than change the numbers to just be selling all the doses you had.

Also I don't recall if you could meet tony at the club when I did my fiddling around, that would definitely make it possible to start some money making things before you are too low on money to try without massive amounts of save scumming.

No, it doesn't work that way. Hacking the porn database only tells you if the girl is doing porn or not.

Amazing work guys. I'm loving the game and the freedom it gives. The plots are also great. I would like to give suggestion to tie requirements for events only toward money and mansion level. That way we would have the freedom to pursue singular avenue of making money instead of worrying about slaves, gang etc. It would also be nice to have more variety for legal business like the restaurant.

What you are asking for was mostly added in version 0.65. You just have to start the events using the new 'Replay Events & Stories' feature. Most of the requirements can be bypassed this way. There are still a few requirements that you have to meet in order for the events and stories to make sense.

I don't think there's a way to have your wife quit her job (outside of using the command injector). The reason you don't see any additional benefit is because the way your wives' income is calculated is bugged (you're getting more than you should). There is a loop that goes thru all the npcs in the game, check if it's one of your wives, and adds salary to total spouse income. The salary variable is only set if the npc is your wife, but it does not get reset to 0 when it's not one of your wives. That basically means each wife's income is multiplied by however many npcs there are until your next wife.

If you look at the code, you'll notice that women who own their own business (work == 4) don't have a salary. If you manage to marry a businesswoman, you basically get a free shop instead. However, only women from rich families can be businesswomen. People from rich families are automatically sorted into high society ('Social Contacts'). Any women in high society automatically lose their jobs. Therefore, it's impossible to marry businesswomen (since they basically don't exist).

If you are interacting with your wife, you can use work[npc]=0 to set her to unemployed. Otherwise, replace npc with whatever her index number is.

thanks. might have been wrong about what i said about additional benefit.

one additional wife doesn't change much, but skews the income towards the max you can get from one wife.
with three-four, i got double what i could get from one wife.

EDIT: It's come to my attention that my complaints about the documentation are invalid because I'm using the 5.7.0 version of the classic player while 5.8.0 beta 7 is the current version.

I can't do anything about the terrible usage of code in the game, but if you have any questions about QSP I can either answer them or find you the answer.

The game works remarkably well for players. The code has been cleaned up numerous times. Can it still be improved? Yes. There are few bugs left in the game at this point. I personally spent two months fixing bugs and cleaning up the code before I decided to add my own new content to the game. Without redoing the entire base game, it functions well. All the developers who worked on this game worked with the coding style that was already there. Granted, massive improvements have been made to the base game of Evil. Just look at the code for the game 'Evil' and you'll see what I mean!

Cleaning up the game code further is good but it provides few benefits to players. Sure, the save game size could be reduced a bit and the loading times when starting a new day could be improved a bit but players wouldn't be getting any new features out of this.

It is easy to sit back and criticize and say that the code is shit. Yes, QSP is limited and the code could be improved. I'm not offended in any way, just pointing a few things out. Both noobtrain and I have spent a great deal of time fixing bugs and improving the code. I could look at any game code and see ways to improve things.

I encourage anyone who wishes to continue development on this game to focus on new features and new content instead of trying to rewrite the game.
