You're right... I probably shouldn't have decided to do a Remake of the game. It's costed me a lot of time, energy and even support on something I personally thought would have a bit more value in the long run. It was a gamble that hasn't seemed to pay off yet. I'm not proud of how things are taking forever, but a lot of real-life stuff has been taking a massive chunk of my time away from development. Not to mention the amount of stress and stuff I've been dealing with.
Really just a bunch of horny fans who want the good times to continue. Think about it like this, if nobody gave a shit about your game then no one would be around to bitch about the lack of game coming out
Well, hopefully 'expediting' the story doesn't put us back where we were before with a lot of the complaints (from what I can remember). Characters immediately falling head over heels in love with the MC and one of them getting pregnant like 2 days after meeting them. Was a lot of stuff happening super quick. Since the point of the remake was to flesh out the story and characters a bit more, was it not?
All the remake is doing is pretty much just adding some lore and explaining some things that never really got explained. It's also a chance to go back and fix some things that weren't able to be fixed before. The rim lighting for an example. If you noticed the hair in the early stages of the game, it seemed like it had some red hightlights. That's not supposed to be like that. My first time i genuinely thought those were supposed to be highlights. There isnt that many actual changes so far. It will still follow the main plot as last time. Only this time it has some added content. If you enjoyed the first version, you should definitely find this one just as much of a blast! I would suggest joining the discord if you havent because the dev posts some teasers and progress updates from time to time.
Point of view and protagonist aren't the same thing, would probably be why.

Wait if you only wanted to change the backstories in the beginning wouldn we better just update the prologue and finalize the game first this is just dumb sorry.
I'm not really sure why 13 thought it was a good idea for this but oh well. I might try it if it ever gets some more updates but this whole remake has left a sour taste in my mouth.
