I absolutely hate the fact that now the girls have boyfriends. I also hate the fact they we were told "Don't worry everyone, they'll be single by the time you get them". Yay we get to have used girls now. Before the remake they were all only ever with the MC besides the milfs. It's sad the tone shifted. The girls look different now. I'm just not a fan anymore.
The updates for the last 3 or so years have been few and far apart. It started to slow down quite a bit after the dev left the military now I guess they've returned, to some extent (haven't really paid much attention and to be honest I forgot about this game).
I just checked my patreon billing history, last payment to 13th sins was back in May 2022. That was back when things were really slow to update before the talk about the remake. Ugh. Oh well. I guess we can look forward to hearing more about the girls boyfriends and maybe even see them with them....I'm not really sure why 13 thought it was a good idea for this but oh well. I might try it if it ever gets some more updates but this whole remake has left a sour taste in my mouth.

The backstories are essentially just being added onto. Nothing that's been known or established is getting changed. *insert kylo ren saying MORE here*
It wasn't necessarily close to being finished. IIRC, the original plan was for 6 chapters. I'm not 100% sure, but I do know it was supposed to have 2 more, at minimum.
I can't really speak on it too much because it's not really my place to say, but yes, real life did get in the way. Real life can and will always take priority no matter the situation,
There wont be NTR in the game at all. Some people are concerned about that.

The dev does do things for the military every so often. His job is during night shifts as well. I think he said in a reply before some got purged that he has something to do with the military for the first few weeks of next month. He won't be working on the game during that time, of course. Real life situations will ALWAYS take priority over this game. No matter the situation. He's even said at times that he really hates it when things come up and he can't work on the game as often as he wants to.
As for the remake, this thread and even the Discord server have talked about it. The dev has released progress updates on Discord here and there. I'm not sure if you've seen those or not. I also briefly talked about it above.

While I'm not a fan of the remake, I do have to say that girls in these games with no planned NTR that have boyfriends doesn't necessarily mean they have plenty of experience, maybe even little to no experience, plus this isn't the first game I played that had these plans in place. One example is "My Dorm", where a goth-like girl had a boyfriend before getting with the MC in that game, but she hasn't gone any further than handholding or kissing, still a virgin. Another example would be "Strong Desire" where a sibling of that game's MC was married but didn't even do anything before, during, and after marriage, also still a virgin. That's why, with these experiences from other games in mind that avoid the NTR tag, I will withhold final judgement with this remake and the planned backstories until it gets fleshed out with enough details.

This is essentially what I'm trying to go for. Yes, I completely understand it's a topic not favored by everyone, and it probably has affected people's perception of the few girls that were in previous relationships. But it will never go past sexual acts or intercourse. There will not be any NTR or the MC getting cucked because that shit's disgusting. ALL the girls will be with the MC, whether if it's boyfriend/girlfriend, engaged or married... only you will be the one to bang all the romanceable characters, even the mothers... period.

I don't think it's about being favored by some. It is more about the stark change overall. A remake rolls around and now some LIs are already in a relationship but wont be once they get with the MC? Were at some point and it is somehow vitally important that the player knows that for the story?
I also assume that "But it will never go past sexual acts or intercourse" was just odd phrasing. Because that would imply that the LIs in the relationships are already sexually experienced. Not an issue per se, but the player doesn't the to be outright told that. That's not "backstory".

I can agree that it doesn't need to be mentioned to the player at all if a LI has had a partner in the past, but if it is mentioned then it needs to have a reason for it. Is the LI hurt because of a prior bf was abusive? Did they cheat? did they pass away? Are we as the MC going to help them work through it and that's their relationship hook? If that's the case, then I'm fine with it as long as there's no flashbacks showing any of the sexual acts should there have been any. Same for Mother characters, just don't show it and it's fine.
Having every single character be a virgin with zero relationship experience just makes them all wind up feeling the same in the relationship arc in some aspects. Variation is good, but it needs to be written properly. Especially since the point of the rework was to give characters a more fleshed out story/personality and not just fall head over heels in love with the MC right off the rip. I mean, one got pregnant like 2 days after meeting him in the original.

Yeah, I'm not expecting every LI to be a virgin in these thing. I know many are but to me it's just a boring power tip fantasy. I just don't like ham-fisted references to it. Something a simple as "My last boyfriend was a dick so I don't trust you" or "I haven't had much luck with past relationships" are subtle enough and get the point across.
Like you said, if there are some underlining issues or turmoil with the character then there may be a reason to focus on it but otherwise it's pointless. It doesn't add to character development.

After finishing this update I'll have to comment on being careful with the prologue episodes. They seem to jump around a lot in the storyline. The one episode the MC is having dinner with characters, in another it jumps back to seeing him come down like a meteor (how it was in the OG) the next is him bumping in to characters as if he's been walking around town for awhile. Then you get back to the main episode plotline and it hasn't even been attacked yet if that's where we're going again.
It can get hard to follow for new players who never played the OG, especially when it looks like there's more prologue episodes to come. Just be careful jumping around a timeline so much. Or make it so you can't do the prologue episodes until you get to said part in the mainstory and you "see it from a different angle" in a way.

it's not altering anything at least not in any major way. It's adding more backstory. It's eliminating the parts where it might go "this is what happened a while and no i will not elaborate". It's pretty much explaining some stuff that hasnt been explained in game and showing stuff we wouldnt really see. This is also a chance to go back and fix some things. Rim lighting is a prime example. Remember how the MCs hair seemed to have red in it during the early releases? That wasnt supposed to happen. The remake allows the chance to fix things like that and add more lore and such. As for the lazy route, its anything but lazy. I'm not quite sure how adding more and fixing errors is lazy.
