Yeah but at the same time you not only have to pay to unlock characters but unlocking animations and accessories/clothing, which at this point is the entire gameplay loop, is a complete chore designed to be a pain so you accelerate it with... even more micro-transactions.
So for $36 you basically get 5(?) characters and then have to either pay more or spend months logging in daily to unlock stuff for them. And that's before even considering that future characters will require paying even more. Oh and the game is all live service so if Helius launches and it doesn't do very well your content is gone.
Unless you're super into niche monster stuff, which makes up a considerable bulk of the animations, there are better games out there now with less ridiculous monetisation. And they're more likely to finish development too.
