well go ahead and make star wars adult game with twi'leks, darth vader, etc and tell us how it went.
Dude, DISNEY has actual copyright. They filed for it and won copyright. Read the word. It's a RIGHT. You apply for it and it is awarded or not.

Further, and again, actually read what I'm saying here:
Star Wars is owned by Lucas Film...which is owned by DISNEY. Disney is one of the largest corporations on the planet. They have the copyRIGHT and money/power to enforce it.

A fucking Renpy porn dev does now have ANY of those things. None. Even if this dev gained Copyright...they can't enforce it. They're just some dude whacking off most of the day making a visual novel using OPEN SOURCE software (Renpy) and pay to "own" assets (if we even assume they paid for them).

So, again, enforce the copyright they don't have how?!

Edit: Let me reiterate that I only condone anyone taking it over if the dev did abandon it and they claim they didn't so I'm not condoning that. I don't know the dev's life. Maybe they don't have the time to work much on it but it's not a case of milking at heart? I dunno but side with not assuming the worst until a dev proves the worst is true.
I only advocate taking a project over if the dev abandons the work or are so negligent and morally awful themsleves that it's morally justified on another's end (JOHN, AWAM, MILFY CITY, BIG BROTHER, etc).

dude, comparisons are very wrong and unnecessary. I registered to f95 in 2017. In the early years, lies were spread that people who downloaded games containing loli and shota content and the developers of those games were arrested when the FBI raided their homes. Nothing like this happened even once. As can be seen, games of this and similar types continue to be developed and downloaded.
It's similar to the copyright issue you mentioned. How to get copyright, where to get it, how this right is created, what to do if anyone breaks it, etc. I guess you don't have any knowledge on the subject, it doesn't have to be.
Also, you gave big budget productions as an example, it's a wrong comparison, but you are wrong again, there are similar games, the first thing that comes to my mind is Game of Whores.

Seems to have gone OK :KEK:

IIRC "Something Unlimited" was originally named "Injustice Unlimited" directly after the copyrighted work it was based on, which actually got attention from the copyright holder, and they literally changed nothing except the name of the game and they were fine.

Depending on where you live, a copyright is automatic and doesn't always require you to register anything at all. When you create something, it is generally, automatically copyrighted to you.

According to :
“Some countries require certain copyright formalities to establishing copyright, others recognize copyright in any completed work, without a formal registration. When the copyright of a work expires, it enters the public domain.”

Also on :
“the 1908 Berlin text of the Berne Convention forbade treaty signatories from conditioning copyright on formalities, shifting copyright from a system of application (registration) to automatic copyright on fixation.”

Sure and the question left with those that don't is what constitutes a "completed work". Meaning it's very easy to challenge it and, no, just saying something doesn't automatically award copyright.
The words I just wrote above would get laughed out of court if I tried to copyright them.
A renpy porn game may or may not meet the same fate unless distributed in certain fashions. I'd doubt gaining money on Patrron for "works" would cover a specific work.

But, again, doesn't matter. It can't be enforced even if it was universal and everything we all said, wrote or made was auto-copyrighted.

Which is the point. But, yes, the application isn't the same across the board...which makes it even harder to enforce.

There's been plenty, they can be considered parody which is protected, you just don't want to use the actual names to avoid infringing on trademarks.

Right, that's a parody that got too close to infringing on Warner/DC trademarks.

I hope an opportunistic developer takes over this abandoned game and continues the story and makes a lot of money.
Enyo watches the opportunity he missed with lazy eyes, as he always does.
can't, enyo still holds copyrights.
Can make a fanmade like those of AWAM but keeping in mind that the quality needs to match up with the original one, if not better then atleast similiar

I hate being that way, but Copyright and intellectual property are two entirely different same things. If that dosn't make sense. I wouldn't go around trying to make money off of Dr. Pinkcake, but they (plural) are huge. I would love to see Enyo come back, but you could probably get away with renewing his work for some monitary gain so long as you were not making billions. Copyrights and intelectual property are all about "Is the money worth my time". Corporation will crush anyone becuase the cost of the lawsuit is less than the potential damage to their franchise. For Mr. Enyo, that's probably not going to be an option.
Besides, should he come back and start working on it again, nothing is stopping you from collaborating. Optimal.

Now for Tiffy on the Floor.

We ever get a reason for the dev disappearing?
I don't recall seeing anything specific, but we've lost a number of good AVNs in the last year from: lack of financial support, burnout, death of a member of the team, RL changes (new job, family, etc.).

This is an expensive 'hobby' for some - both money and time - while others treat it like a job and put in the effort required to move their project forward.

A creator still has to have an idea that people want to support with $ and be willing to take the time to learn DAZ, blender, photoshop and/or other skills all while supporting themselves (or supporting a family).

I'd love to see Enyo come back.

I think he lost his way when he had Melanie and family take a vacation away from Sebastian.

He could have added the spice to the mix by having Sebastian decide to take a vacation to the same area, renting a cottage and running into Melanie and Tiffany at a local store... fun times recommence.

Instead, he dropped the primary Melanie/Tiffany relationship (with Sebastian) and started to introduce new characters requiring new assets and scenery.

All we can do is hope that he gets his mojo back and decides to return this AVN to its roots.

Cheers!! :coffee:

Yeah, kind of a strange decision. I think some would argue he lost his way long ago when he started cutting content to rework the game. A lot of that cut content never made its way back into the game, sadly.

I know alot of people didn't appreciate that last update. I for one thought it was good for what it was, but after people had been waiting a good long while for an udate already, it didn't go over as well as it could have.

I think your spot on with the Hobby vs. Job comments. Unfortunately it's pretty damn easy to spot the ones that do it as a Hobby, or psudo hobby in that, what they've made is more like a piece of Art, vs a piece of shit.
Mr. Enyo was clearly making a work of Art, I'm betting the grumbling over the last update didn't do much to motavate him to pick it up for more. ; ;

Nice game and beautiful characters, but the whole open world thing where each day repeats ad-nausium was annoying with this game. Some of the conversations were also subpar and sometimes felt like conversation was added just to extend the play time. I'm like, "okay, quit saying goodbye and leave already!" (or something to that effect). hehehe... I'm honestly not surprised this was abandoned after so many years of this.

It was interesting, good characters, but it should have been a normal game with choices, no open world as it didn't have any of the open world aspects that makes that sort of game interesting (to me anyhow).
