I find this story utterly depressing. I suspect that implies the writing is very good, because this website is a quagmire of unsavory stories with horrible people and interactions, but something about this story hits harder. I think it is the utter corruption of Parker on the A route that just makes me think we would all be better off if the asteroid hit.

I know u didn't get i mean.The current is the longer one i guess.
The "A" route, which is the one in which Parker decides to work with the cops, definitely has more chapters. The "B" route, in which Parker is the hero, defeats the cops and gets the girl, was a much simpler story to tell, so there isn't as much content there.

As Eleanorduval quite correctly (IMHO) stated, corruption paths are typically longer, because a person doesn't typically go from Goody Two Shoes to Evil Overlord in the blink of an eye. It's a slow slide, with the individual changes being almost unnoticeable, but significant in the aggregate.

Personally, I don't think the writing is necessarily all that good, because most of it was done by me, and I'm very much aware of my faults and inadequacies as an author. But, if you're getting that sense out of what's happening to Parker, then maybe I've managed to hit the mark. This is exactly the point. In the "A" path he is most definitely not the Knight In Shining Armor.

I must have small problems remembering how to quote correctly 'cause I was a moderator on a forum twice before but can't quote yours (maybe too long ?).

Anyway Rich I understand what you say about it. I remember that well that too and probably use too much of my own background. I was VERY jealous in these years but a cheater (Yep, remorses now and I enjoyed anyway). Now I'm pretty more experienced and know that jealousy is bad company and a bad advisor.

I will give a try to the blackmail path.

But the mother is really a SLUT (after looking at " FF&S - Scenes That Didn't Happen "

is there any incest content in the game or just NTR?
There is no incest in the game although there is FF&S: Untold Stories and well... We whom love that content were finally fully satisfied. And yet it contain some funny added context to the original story (and lot of explicity) ;)

Even if I'm french, I always play these games in english (so I don't have misstranslation or some slang / jokes misunderstanding) but even if I speak a little german, I don't think this idiom exists in english ?

Edit : Another thing tells me that it must be inspired by some sort of true story because even if the game is a bit "old" all phones things, GPS trackers, drug tests, computers were most advanced than that 7-8 years ago

  1. No, this is not a common American idiom. It is a slogan that dates back to the German Empire pre-World War I. The presumption is that Parker came across this variant while doing his research on the Enclave. It is mentioned that The Golden Circle was written by Jakob Tamor, who lived in Europe during that era, so the website talking about his background, etc., could easily have quoted that as an example of his philosophy towards women.
  2. There's a small item at the beginning of the story that, in theory, helps you date it. A reference is made to Hurricane Katrina, which puts the start of this story in about late 2005. So more like 20 years ago than 7-8. In particular, this is in the "pre-smartphone" era. I've tried to keep the electronics capabilities pretty consistent with that era. (I'm older than most people here, so I remember a lot of the "advances" that were being made back then.)

Right there with you, I was an adult in the mid 90s and actually really miss the tech from that era. I would go so far as to say I pretty much hate cell phones and wish they had never been invented. I remember dial-up internet and could never go back to that. Cars were so much better back then also.

Not sure I'd agree about the cars. As I age, I'm grateful for the advanced safety features in modern cars. (Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping features, auto-braking, etc.)

Not to mention the fact that they can go 10,000-15,000 miles between oil changes instead of 3,000, don't need "lube jobs," last 200,000-300,000 miles instead of barely 100,000, start and run perfectly in the winter without having to "warm up" or having to use a manual choke to keep them from stumbling, and get 2-3 times the gas mileage that my first car (bought in 1978) did. My first car didn't even HAVE an odometer wheel for the 100,000's - it rolled over after 99,999, which tells you something about its expected life.

(FYI, I'm a "child of Eisenhower," so I became an adult in the late 1970's. Yes, I'm a dinosaur.)
