I wouldn't recommend it. Discord in itself is essentially spyware. When you're running a server, you run the chances of having a dead lurker server because most people are active in other servers. This doesn't reflect well on your game. You also have to face how stupid most porn and internet addicts are when they start posting beyond game-related stuff. And lastly, some people use discord as a toilet to shit on devs. You can easily ban them, but you still have to spend time on it.My reluctance to make a server is mostly apprehension over its moderation. I already struggle to keep a real eye on the Patreon and this forum.
Out of curiosity, what is the appeal of a game specific discord? Is it an easier way to communicate with each other? Or with me? Or what? Thanks!
You have some upsides as well: you can use "roles" as a patreon reward, you can have other people offer gameplay or technical support, ...
