The two main pillars of the game are blackmail and humiliation. If we follow your logic (and it makes sense), then Monica should have broken down long ago and stopped fighting, resigning herself to defeat. But here we have a commercial product, a game that exists and has been successfully sold for 7 years in a row. Would the patrons pay for their broken and willless heroine to continue to have sex with the scum around her? I highly doubt that.Exactly how a visit that traumatic in Prison along with everything else she has been through not change her attitude at all. It makes no sense and it is bad writing. Anyone that would continue with the same attitude along the same path would be the dumbest person on earth and not a successful smart businesswoman Monica is portrayed as.
I actually have more of a grudge against the idiotic writing than Monica.
So, on the one hand, DM managed to keep the intrigue and hope that Monica could win one day (which I don't really believe in, although I'd very want to see it), and on the other hand, he extended the life span of the game by allowing the "arrogant bitch" Monica to be punished over and over again. So I think it's not a matter of poor writing, but it's a conscious desire to make Monica unbreakable person.
