There's one very good reason to believe that the threat is very real: how scared Melanie is. She disappeared for a short time when she did and now she is so scared of going back that she does everything Victoria says, and we can see how that is getting worse and worse (and public). Nothing short of a horrible version of the Farm would do that. Of course, it's still stupid that Victoria is the one doing the threatening, but that is the game unfortunately.

Melanie is the reason I'm not all in on the theory of the husband being responsible for it all with the farm being fake. Melanie tells Monica she was not only told about the farm but she spent time there. And as you said what she saw there, she see's as worse than what Victoria has been putting her through. She clearly hates what Vic has done with her, she is not playing along with a false narrative for her own pleasure or desire.

Melanie still doesn't rule out the husband,fake farm conspiracy. So I haven't dismissed it as impossible either. Maybe when she went to Marcus she was told about the possible ruse being played on Monica, and was threatened with jail or something else that has kept her inline with the plan. She was forced to go along with the plan or else. We don't have enough information yet and as this is a fiction anything the writer's mind comes up with is still possible.

The level of make-up is incredible, they look like real dolls.

Btw - ep 2 and 1 will be reworked soon. So some scenes will become no canon.

Do they really plan to do a rework? Chapter 1 looks really good to me, it's just the gameplay is tedious because you can tell it wasn't made in RenPy.

I think it would require a huge amount of resources and a lot of time. Episode 2 has a lot amount of vide scenes, and imagine having to have all of them available from different angles. And as I understand it, a flying 3D camera would still be needed (as it was in part of Ep3 and 4), which means that all the scenes would have to be redone all over again.(Even if the DM has all those scenes in, shall we say, "raw" form).

I don't think anyone would mind Ep1 and 2 looking as cool as Episode 3 or 4.. All those flying 3D cameras, switchable angles, sexy moaning Monica/Melanie, etc., but I really wish it didn't affect the roadmap for the final Ep4.

With Ep3, imo, everything was different, there was a systematic step-by-step improvement. BTW, even now already familiar to us 3D video scenes with flying camera, and later with added possibility to choose a favorite angle, and even later with possibility to change or slow down the speed, appeared not at once either..I think it is not quite correct to compare it. And if by remodeling you mean the new game difficulty level selections (Ep3), then, agree, it's not exactly the kind of work that requires to load equipment to render scenes.

Steam itself is a model of duplicity. Ban the sale of FB (especially when all the requirements have already been met and Bardie was removed), but at the same time quietly continue to sell in their store many dozens (if not hundreds) of 2D hentai games, where female MC are raped by literally everything from dwarves and orcs to demons, dogs, spiders, horses and tentacles...and the list goes on. And then these princesses or sorceresses give birth to eggs or some monsters..So trying to understand Steam's logic is pointless in my opinion, they just don't have it.
