It's not you, it's Monica who's in a jail cell. For your own mental health, I advise you not to get into character and be above the fray, good thing the game allows you to do that. As for the versions of Ep1, if I'm not mistaken, some time ago (in the OP) the old version of Ep1 (without in-game gallery but with Bardie) was updated (replaced) with the updated 1.1 version (with in-game gallery and without Bardie). But essentially, it makes little difference if you use the alternative option that is described in the FAQ (1.1.6).

About the prison cell and the locks on it, I haven't really looked into it, but I can reassure you that our beloved Monica will be free soon and may not come back here at all (if you want her to and don't go through Marcus' optional path quests).

Don't worry, it has happened to me, but only in very few games with a male MC.

The synopsis says that Monica is a bitch, and the truth is that she is, but I find her faces and dialogues very funny, so far the game doesn't make me hate her, she has a lot of charisma.

Therein lies the problem. As much as DM (the Dev) wanted to make Monica look like a total bitch, he actually achieved the opposite effect. Personally, I've just grown attached to her, her looks, her bitchiness and arrogance as inherent traits of her unique character. And against the 99% of assholes around her, she seems more like an innocent victim of circumstance than someone who really deserved all the trouble that came down on her in ep2+.

In what way is v1.1 of ep1 incompatible with the Bardie version of episode 2? Bardie isn't cut from ep 1 in any version. I can easily continue a save made in v1.1 of ep1 into the Bardie version of ep2. I just tested it.

I see no incompatibility? If there is some information I have missed let me know.

It's just that people have already complained that after "transferring" (following to the official dev instructions) a save from version 1.1 (updated, with in-game gallery) to the old uncensored ep2 with Bardie, such a save refused to work. Based on these complaints, I made the assumption that some code incompatibility between the updated version of ep1 and the old version of ep2 could be the cause of something like this. Ofc, it's great that it works for you, but the important thing is that it wasn't a so-called “survivor error”.

Yeah no doubt human error causes all sorts of issues. I've given up helping new players these days, or arguing about the themes of the game with them, I wish you luck, however there is no incompatibility with v1.1 of ep1 with either version of ep2.

This game has always been funky with the ep1 to ep2 transfer. In my experience it is usually an over long file path that causes a lot of save transfer problems.

If a new player starts an ep1 playthrough from ep1.1, saves when Monica is in the basement, then loads that save in ep2 with Bardie. It should work, as long as the file paths are not overly long. If they are too long what happens is that ep2 will load that save at first and the player will be able to play ep2 as normal. When they save and close the application however and then come back and restart ep2, that save will fail to load and that error message we all love will appear.
