Because you need to start playing sequentially, from ep1 to ep5. For more details, see the FAQ. As for the reason for such frequent black screens without images, it is obvious - since you are trying to activate old content related to the previous 4 eps, but which is missing in the 5th, instead of images you will often see black screens with dialogues in the background.
Remember that each episode is "cut off" when it reaches a certain size in gigabytes, and the next episode is released. This is common practice for most devs. Therefore, to make sure you don't miss anything, just play sequentially.
