Caligura is a character you can go entire playthroughs just never meeting, But the earliest you can encounter him is in the train immediately after the Day 1 intro sitting on the seat with the map (I heard you can only encounter him there if you don't take the map but idk). Also you can kill him day 1 dawn if playing as abella or Marcoh by sleeping in the mayors bed.
As for the moonscorched well...
Caligura- appears in the sewers as a face and can ambush you
Daan- transforms into a Pocketcat dunno where
Karin- Turns into a Valkyrie and you have to take a boat to get to the island she's on
Marcoh- Turns into a weird armed creature dunno where
Marina- Turns into a three armed creature carrying a cacoon at the church path to the tower
O'saa- Turns into a mushroom head creature dunno where
Olivia- Turns into a robotic monster in the museum
Pav- dies before he can transform
Tanaka- If he survives that long also transforms in the museum
August- Kills himself before that happens

lots of things really, but the more important "things to do" is to
go
west of woodsman for abella (tanaka dies)
east to the mayor's house or west if coming from the lake to save henryk (if playing as abella, sleep here for a chance to kill caligura)

you literally could reach ending without saving and move the time.
i almost did it but the game graphic crashed on me.
impossible to continue due to 70% image gone from screen.
wasted 5 or 7 hour because i don't know you can use bed to save.
(my first attempt on bed result in event cutscene instead of dream)
edit : you can enter city from sewer without moving time forward.

i find these conclusion weird, i see that diary without moving time forward.
there is no one there.
levi day 1 on restaurant basement near entrance.
levi mutated day 1 on sewer.
both exist as separate entity because i saved levi after i killed mutated levi.
anyone know where is the map ?
been 3 hour without map this mornig.
to make it worse i lost all progress.

go to church and see marina cut scene.
go to apartement, walk to basement and open the washing machine with blood.
enter washing machiine
find teleportation gate inside there,
goes into all amer church via teleportation.
marina should be somewhere inside all amer church.
my information could be exclusively day 1 since i never reached day 1 night.
edit : i could remember their name wrong and give the wrong hint.

i see pocketcat when i enter the city from the old town day 1.
i seen it from the first split route where you need to move either west or east.
pocketcat seen after walking up the west stair rummaging through garbage bag with blood.
i got offered a trade where he offer bunch of book in exchange of contestant head.
i got confused because i didn't enter dream space yet and don't know who is the contestant at that time.
after this, you will see pocketcat in mausoleum which you can found after passing the altar of one god.
(never find it yet because game crashed, but NPC stated he is friend with pocketcat and he is somewhere there)
The map is in the train, as soon as u are free to move enter again and u will see marina drawing the perfect circles, the map is on a seat at the top near the hallway. Caligura is also there above the map lol
Yeah, there are a lot of those versions, also found the fake Tanaka below the sewers or the train station I think

I think u mean Samarie at the church of almer, I tried to save all playable characters but never found Marina in my run with O'saa
Finally beat the game with Karin in a murderous run and got ending B lol
