A (likely small) part of how this happens is maintained by what we say here. If people didn't arrive at Internet discussions to criticize the lateness, we wouldn't have others self-identifying as defenders of the FA release schedule. This causes these defenders to double-down on their monetary investment in the game. Given the rate at which things happen, many people would otherwise completely forget about the game between releases.

I can't say that this would drive it down to obscurity, however. Crush realizes that constant Discord dialogue with fans is a way to keep FA fresh in people's minds even when releases do not happen. Plus, people with a disposable cash tend to throw it away on subscriptions that go on forever with little or no payout, and therefore forgetting about the game only reinforces this phenomenon.

I'm not saying to stop criticizing of course--truth needs to be said. I'm just explaining how this happens.
Very good points, and the reason why I stopped following\commenting here. Basically the more people talk about it the more attention (and money) he gets.
Failed deadlines cries, the constant alluring pictures he carefully pick for his posts, etc.. have all the same objective: keep attention high so that people do not leave while he works as little as possible. The last delays granted him 13000$, Idk if you guys realize how much it is but I assure you with what he gets every month you could run a little business and pay at least 2 people making only that for an entire month, working 5 days a week. Considering how easy and linear he's developing the game, I'm convinced those two people could produce the equivalent of his entire game every month (every two with a proper character creation and the relative variability, and by working smartly which he doesn't).
And just to be clear, I don't hate him. For sure he's not the only one on the internet unfairly getting tons of money. I just despise him because I know what he could do.

Damn, this must be one of the only negative comments I've seen on his patreon:

Granted, it's hard to find negative comments when you need to be a patreon to leave comments to begin with, but still.
Very rare....
I still can't understand why they are still supporting him or games alike (awam, jessica, lust campus, milfy city...). By funding them on monthly base supporters are encouraging these "devs" behaviour and making them pushing limits how long they can extend time between updates. Or, blantly, how many months they can grab their subscriptions before being forced to seriously work.

Patreon is only major site where you can subscribe on nothing, where ones that pay have no protection amd where ones receiving money have no obligations, schedule or have to produce anything in month when they collect their fees.

Ask yourselves how long you'll be subscribe to site (porn or streaming) that from month to month delivers no new content, just excuses. Heck, you have pay monthly subscription just to read weekly/monthly report saying you "sorry, couldn't deliver". Like movies and porn site ask you to pay for trailers, browsing or see what you get. Like, you buying chips in local store: first pay then you can read ingredients, best use until date...

Still power is in the hands of supporters who don't understand that or either don't care throwing them money. But they both for sure like these games and want progress.
Solution is simple, affirmative action by supporters. Demand from crush and similar devs to change payment from monthly into per major update. If refuses post on his/their patreon, discord pages that as from now you suspend your subscription until the day of next release. That will be major swing for consumer rights and push devs to work more (giving them in the end even more supporters). I can also throw my money to such dev (if crush was honest, hard working i'll be his subscriber too). These are my card info, 5, 10...usd waiting on card for your update to bill me. No update, no cash.
Some "devs" will abandon projects (because they were not serious or honest anyway), some will continue their lazy once-a-year schedule (but at least you won't paying their vacations), but most will do more and faster on everyones satisfaction.

Another week of zero progress and he's run out of excuses.
He wants you to feel sorry for him after he's taken your money for absolutely nothing in return.
The absolute best after these delays are the comments of fanboys - always fascinating! :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, a very powerful echo chamber. Those are "Notice me! Please notice me!" behaviour, they are racing with each other to be the best fanboi. You can also see very similar behaviours around Ponzi Schemes, Pyramid Schemes even though scamming is much more obvious.

Few of them are aware of the scamming business, but they can't help themselves. They are in deep with months of payments and trying to make themselves believe that everything is gonna be awesome in the end, nothing is gonna be in vain!

Some of them are just desperate and/or hardcore fanboys, really worshipping him and won't ever question the situation as long as he feeds them with some nice words, not even promises.

Others are just brain dead or have too much money and doesn't give a fuck (or forgot) . Let's say he stopped posting and his patreon became dead for at least a year, they will still continue to pay money.

There are probably some newbie patrons, not aware of the situation and waiting Morpheus to open their eyes.

BTW being a fan of a dev and showering him/her with compliments isn't a bad thing as long as the dev is a hard worker and honest.

Solution is so simple; just pause your pledges for a month and next month you will see that he's working his ass off and releasing new versions like crazy. All you need to do is write a post in discord or patreon anouncing that you're gonna pause your payment and want others to join you. Then hundreds of smart patrons joins the cause to teach a lesson to the dev and... yet impossible! Unfortunately...

So more money for the dev, more fun (or awe) for us, more devotion for his/her cult.

I also don't care about this game for at least a year like Kristof29, but I like reading comments in this thread and similar other threads like Dual Family, Milfy City, AWAM, etc time to time, it's like a fun documentary/mocumentary.

I'm not sure that would work now. I think, if that were to happen (say, almost everyone paused for a month and his patreon payout was "just" under $1000) what would happen is that he'd go silent for a couple of weeks, and then post an update (patreon update, not game update) guilt tripping people into giving him money. Not as literal as "I wish I could work on the game but I can't do it if you don't give me money" but with the same idea.

the real solution is to change monthly tiers into per major update tiers (it exists on patreon, i saw it on some games). patrons need to force him but after reading letters to beloved chairman mao from discord, there is no balls or mind for that...
what strikes me is that these crush-groupies are babbling about supporting him. no. support is when you throw some money, some time. when you are billing people recuring each 1st of month for fixed amount of money it is subscription and it has to have committments from both sides. i don't see this here. like been subcribed on magazine and you don't get nothing this month except "sorry delayed" note (like IOU notes from dumb & dumber). no money back, no guarantees. only fools and horses work.
this game has potential and i would be happy to pay it when/if it is finished. i'm not against patroning neither (i'm also patron to dev who regulary delivers, and soon i'll start supporting 2nd) but not to guys misusing it.

Didn't Crush at one time say that he was an Economics major and that he literally used the game as part of his thesis on how to bilk investors out of money by proposing development delays and excuses? That somehow rings a bell. I somehow remember reading that on his blog or something when the game very first launched.

Also adding that there are quite a few game developers that are not actually game developers. They are just project managers. Their actual dev teams and graphics teams may be outsourced. Usually to Russia and the Ukraine. Which currently have their own problems at the moment. So I can see delays if the 'dev' falls into this category.
