Im not part of their discord, has the dev team provided any concrete ETA date for the next update? As I understand, There will no new content, rather just the re-invention of the lifepath leading up to the main game.
Concrete is an anathema to Crush. Nothing will be concrete, especially in regards to timing. Updates, progress/'transparency' reports, nothing will be given a deadline.

When those things *do* appear, they won't contain what was promised. They won't be finished. They won't be clear. Even the next update will -- essentially -- be a tease.

how have they dodged for this long without giving a proper timeline of their plan? How are the patreon subscribers ok with this? If I paid them for this project, I would constantly spam that question until I get a reasonable answer.

Patreon is a site where most of the patrons are beings from another dimension, money doesn't matter to them, and then they subscribe to everyone and they don't care what happens to their money. Sometimes I feel like developers could have stopped pretending to do anything and still get their money.

This happens with some games on Patreon. Cthulhu can be very generous. Maybe someday I'll make a game on this topic. "My Sugar Daddy Cthulhu". I just need to find a suitable tutorial on programming, which is used by the creator of this game - "necronomicon"

The next piece of content to be issued is going to be a "quick start" version of the lifepath that he's been working on for the past 20 months. In other words, he's going to be putting out a way to avoid everything he's been working on. There has been no date released. There is never a date released. Everything will be out "Soon," and since Crush works on geological time, that may or not be this decade.

he will eventually find something that bothers him in the lifepath and bring us out of absurd delays again.
Personally, I don't care about the lifepath; the one currently proposed suits me. I don't expect anything before 2030.
staying positive. Luckily there are other games

The "Sunk Cost Fallacy", a lot of his supporters have already spent so much that they feel they need to continue supporting him to justify how much they've already spent.

Oh my fuck. I remember this game. I played it, like, five? Six years ago? It was pretty short, but I really did enjoy the writing. Scrolling through this thread, it's wild how the game hasn't budged an iota since then, and the dev went the easy "milk Patreon for all it's worth" lifepath. Typical "a promising H-game turning into a scam" scenario. Disappointing, since the concept is neat. Oh well.

Looking around, there's quite a few devs doing this *coughs in Summertime*. So ChatGPT says you can do this:

Tired of “Progress Updates” That Never Mean Anything?

You're not crazy — you're being misled.

Some creators on Patreon charge monthly yet post nothing but vague, evasive updates. One week it's “5 scenes left to edit,” the next week it’s something else — never revisiting or completing what they said before. Two years later, you're still paying, and they're still “almost done.”

That’s not just lazy. That may be deceptive behavior, and you can report it.

️ What You Can Do:
  1. Gather receipts:
    • Screenshot tier promises (what you’re paying for)
    • Save vague updates and shifting metrics
  2. Submit a report:
    • Go to their Patreon page → “...” → Report this creator
    • Choose “Fraudulent or deceptive behavior”
    • Include a short summary:
“This creator posts weekly but never delivers content. Metrics are mentioned then dropped. Patrons are still being charged.”

The progress report machine has betrayed its master.

I’m working on the changes to the Malaysia mini-mission right now, and we might be able to roll it straight into the quick start version that will drop either before or after the Lifepath. I’ll be able to give you a release date estimate for that after I’ve finished tweaking Malaysia (which I’m aiming to do this week) and done some pre-production planning of stuff that will still be outstanding (like fixing art glitches etc).
Why do I have the felling that the next release (if it exists) will be an unfinished version of the life path. Either this "quick start" only version or an unfinished life path 3.0 with a lot of placeholders and missing images.

He will blame the patrons for wanting content after two years, and say things like "The pressure was on and I had to offer you guys some content. Don't worry, we will finish this, but now I & lovely Victoria realize that the main story is more important, so we'll rewrite it to fit the new game start." And you can guess it; after another year or two, he'll bring back the unfinished life path and re-write everything once again, with the same speed of a quarter of a character a day.

Yesterday's update:

Hey guys! This week, (among other taskings) our illustrator lovely Victoria has been working on the updated tattoo options for the heroine.

The tattoos in the current version look nice, but we always felt there was something a bit too generic about them. Tattoos normally have a kind of schema or meaning that we were lacking.

The addition of the Lifepath gave us the opportunity to match tattoo options to player decisions. So we went through the draft lifepath and picked out a few key moments to memorialise in ink.
Anything but working on the actual game, huh. Next thing they're gonna work on a realistic DNA sequence scrambling to determine the placement of moles on Kate's body, and whether or not her nipples are innies or outies. True roguelike experience.

I also added a couple of new beats to Malaysia which I think are big improvements. I think my writing is better now, I’m doing a lot more with symbolism and subtext than I was before. I don’t know if people care about stuff like that, but I think it makes the story a lot better so I’m doing it anyway, I can only try to make the game I want to make.
If you were a good writer Crush, you would have known about the "show, don't tell" principle. "Oh look guys, I am so amazing at writing stuff rn, my writing is sooooo good now... not hot enough tho".

I remember when it originally got the "Abandoned" tag I wondered if the "Zero Kate Thirty" mini-episode should count towards when was the last release, since its on the same "series", he said he was planning to add it to the lifepath and make it canon content, in the end it turned out to be a moot point because even it it was counted from then since we are in July it still would have been tagged Abandoned anyway.

I like this part of the new report:

I’m no artist, I’m just trying to make entertainment, but this thing van Gogh said is just ringing in my ears all the time at the moment.

“I feel such a creative force in me: I am convinced that there will be a time when, let us say, I will make something good every day, on a regular basis....I am doing my very best to make every effort because I am longing so much to make beautiful things. But beautiful things mean painstaking work, disappointment, and perseverance.” -VvG
Not that I’m trying to make something as beautiful or important as Starry Fucking Night or whatever. But I do yearn so much to make Female Agent kind of…if not a thing of beauty then at least better, more polished I guess. I mean it’s still a tiny text-based indie project, don’t expect Skyrim 2 or anything. But I think you guys will see that it’s getting better, when the next fucking release finally comes out.
Van Gogh was a prolific artist who churned out thousands of completed paintings. He may have been retroactively disappointed with many of them, but he still put them out there. I doubt he would be remembered with such reverence today if the only record of his art was years of diary entries about how he's really trying to get the stars perfect but they just don't seem realistic enough yet.

Fun fact: Since Crush has his Patreon earnings set to public, we can verifiably say that between November 2023 (The last actual update to the game) and now, Crush has made $98,422 pre-tax.

SubscribeStar is less public, but given an average amount of $2.27 per subscriber and a consistent 401 subscribers per month since then, that would be a rough (and conservative) estimate of an extra $16,385.

Imagine anyone in literally any other profession saying they've made 115 Grand over the past 18 month while accomplishing absolutely nothing. It's blatantly predatory at this point. I guarantee the vast majority of people subscribed to him actually work their butts off for their money and still make less than him. And yet when I politely suggested to him on Discord that he pause billing until he actually releases something, he hit me with the "But then I would have to get a real job and the updates would be even slower "

This whole realism thing in porn games is so stupid. It's especially stupid when you make your protagonist pretty depraved at the start, but then it becomes a problem for the character to show her breasts when 5 scenes ago she sucked a dick to get a little better rating.
And what amuses me most is these attempts to pass themselves off as an artist. Games are not played for the sake of a great plot, if you want to be an artist, don't make porn. If you spend so much time producing content, then you need to get rid of something, and it will either be porn or all this fictional artistry that only exists in the author's head.
