Going to the world map causes the game to just go back to the main menu. Loading a save on the world map directly, or on any scene/dialogue, when the scene is over and world map is supposed to open it just goes to the main menu... Starting new game doesn't seem to be affected, but don't really want to replay everything again, any fix ideas?

FYI in software versioning these numbers are not decimal fractions, 0.9 does not mean next update is a full release and a 1.0.
in x.y.z, x usually means massive part worthy to be called a separate release, like 1.x is full game, 2.x is expansion, etc, y means patches which include content, z usually is strictly for bugfixes and technical changes (can be small content too ig). Each one of these numbers is just an ordinal number (or sometimes a letter), so it can be 10.10.10 for example and you so snobbishly saying "it's one of those games" only shows your ignorance and doesn't really reflect game's quality in any way.

I would say additionally to what Liftoff7073 stated(nice post btw ): officially it's called "Semantic Versioning" or SemVer following the formula "MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH". You can read the specifications here

A software is any computer program that performs a task and a game is a subset of software. So technically every game is software, but not every software is a game.
