By the time I got to book 2 I used Joy to Key to assign a button on one of my controllers to be a rapid autoclicker. I built a fully upgraded team of one of everything for my war minigame and found just the right spot to leave the mouse and autoclick through the mission as many times as I needed rapidly.

I did the same thing for book 3 with one of the gambling minigames to farm money. I can't remember which. But the autoclicker gave it like a 90% success rate and I found myself with tons of gold pretty quickly.

I've still got that Joy to Key preset saved for when I do my future replays.

I moded the grind for myself in book 1 and I think, Zuko did too in his mod. If there is any demand, I could post it here but probably not before the next weekend.

It looks like you didn't activate any of the mission triggers - unfortunately, I don't remember exactly at what point Shady gives you this mission. Maybe someone else will help you.

BTW - are you absolutely sure that Mai doesn't sell what you need ? I remind you that this is in "Quest Items". Oh - one more thing, it seems that the whole thing takes place after returning from Ember Island, my uncertainty stems from the fact, that for me book 2 is a sad necessity before 3 and 4 ;) For some reason - I don't like this book FET.
