Can a Patreon please post, what the Art Update 42 said?
Yeah yeah. Hold your tits.
"Biting off more than you can chew... is sorta how I've been feeling this last week! Since the coder needed some more time, I've been using that time to update and improve the pics I already had finished. Stuff which the coder can drop in a folder and not be concerned with implementing it since it's just images which will overwrite the older files. Easy peasy!
However, besides sending him some improved stuff, I've been working on a little side project. Honestly, I wanted to add another scene to the new build. I was sorta counting on it being able to find it's way in there and already mentioned it (vaguely) in another art update so I'm slightly bummed we can't put it in, but like I've told the coder myself several times already, it's pretty impressive he's been able to do as much as he already did.
I can assure you Fet would be looking for another artist if I'd have to split my time between taking care of a sick family member and drawing. Not because I wouldn't want to keep working on it, but because my mental energy would be completely depleted. I'm super happy things are looking to become a lot better for the coder and his mom. Of course I'll welcome a more stable release schedule, but 99,9% because the coder will be able to relax some more.
Anyway, I've been directing a lot of my time into my little side project. It's a small something which really could've used the coder's hands, but since those were already full, I've been doing some copy/pasting and the best I can using older scripts to cobble something together for.... Halloween!
It started out with a quick sketch and snowballed into what it is now... something which taught me once again feature creep is a real thing and can kill all of your time if you let it. Well, most of that is my inexperience at programming and it still had some buggy parts today which I think I got fixed now. There's still stuff which could use some small improvements, but meh it works.
Okay, this was honestly not something I was going to tell you guys yet since I wanted it to be a surprise and release it on the 30th or close to it without any warning. The reason why I'm telling you now is because things got messy with the dates.
We were planning on releasing the new build's bughunt version during the weekend, but although the coder was feeling pretty confident about getting it done by then, stuff's taking more time that he thought. Sooo that means another couple of days to get the bughunt version done, which means another couple of days before the early release, which means we're getting closer and closer to halloween. More so than I was counting on.
So I'm leaving it up to you guys to decide for us! Shall I release the Halloween game now so you'll have something to play with until we release the new build or should we just wait until the 30th? The Halloween game is pretty much done. Sure I could tinker some more with it, but it isn't really necessary.
Personally, playing these sort of games too early takes away a little from the experience, but I can really understand you guys wanting to get something new to play with rather sooner than later.
Apparently patreon has the ability to create actual polls, but I haven't been able to figure how to add it to a normal post and not make two seperate post so I'm going to create two comments to this post below. One saying "Upload the Halloween game now" and one saying "Upload it closer to the 31th." We'll do whichever comment gets liked the most.
I'll give the poll about 24 hours. If the majority of you guys want it rather sooner than later we'll immediately release it after the 24 hours. If not we'll wait 'til the 30th!
Working on it was fun(and frustrating at times) and I hope you guys will have some fun with it too. It took way too much time for what you'll get, but I learned quite a few things during the proces so it's not wasted time. I think I'll be in a much better position to help the coder find and deal with bugs in the future.
I've also been working hard at the files for the build after the one we'll release this month and I've already done a large part for it. I wouldn't have started this side project if I hadn't! Of course all of it backed up on my external harddisk. I'd be way too nervous if I hadn't.
One of the scenes which won't be in the next build but which I've been working on is a June scene. It's going to be vaginal and getting it to work with pubes gave me a major headache. the pubes version is now my favorite, but that's probably more because it's pretty unique to have such a scene in FET.
Anyway, things are coming along but always a tad slower than we want. It won't be too much longer before we can let the bughunters have their way with the new build though and hopefully there won't be anything crazy in there bug-wise. Sexy-wise it can get all sorts of crazy.
On a sidenote. All of my files were missing yesterday... and I didn't freak out because I had backed up everything the other day. That was at least what I was telling myself as the cold sweat started to pour down my face! Long story short: I think I did a cut/paste instead of a copy/paste. So nothing was lost except a few years of my life as I was fearing the worst of possibilities. Yay!
That's all for now, sorry for the extra delay and we're super curious what the results of the poll will be.
ps. I think I've finally killed whatever caused a two minute delay(at the very least) to copy/cut files as small as 100 kb on my desktop. It has been the cause of quite some swearing and frustration so it'll be nice if it stays dead!
That's all! Don't forget to vote if you care one way or another.
