He does decently enough, but the sheer favoritism toward the Slave Route got old to me by Book 3. It was disappointing but understandable that the Slave Route comes first, whatever. Then Book 2's Love Ending was... just trash. Like I remember he even got called out by a bunch of his Patrons (I was one, at the time) because of how badly it was done. And he defended it (while pulling a Mass Effect 3 and still going back to revamp it to be... *less* disappointing) by saying (paraphrased) "Well, Azula is a crazy bitch, and I think we foreshadowed this ending pretty well".

Like... yeah. Sure. In this game that uses time travel, body possession, breaks canon on a regular basis, and already alters most characters way beyond canon, it's unreal to think that Azula could get some kind of a redemption arc beginning in the so-called "Love" route. Let's ignore all the foreshadowings and vulnerabilities she had earlier.

Then Book 3 was just awkward. Not only was the Slave Route pretty gross at some points (like Toph's eyes), but the Love Route made your character more or less useless. Like yeah, I get that he's the layabout avatar, but in the Slave Route he always becomes some big badass who pimp slaps around the series mains, and in the Love Route he's always so... lackluster.

To be honest, that included with recent delays in publishings, I'm actually starting to think bringing a new coder in would be a great idea. He could assist with the code to speed up dev time, *and* they could have someone new write the Love routes.

Oooh, or maybe someone from the community could go back and redo it? I'm guessing redoing scenes in this game would probably be pretty difficult from someone inexperienced with the code, though. A Custom Scenes mod would be insanely useful.

Wut? Azula HAS redemption arc in the love route.

There's nothing bad about slave/love routs having totally different MC capabilities.

I mean I'll admit it's been about two years, but I'm pretty sure the last time I played the Love Route for Azula after the revamp, it ended with her basically making you her "trophy husband" while she went out and about continuing to do all the same psychotic shit she did toward the beginning of the route.

Also, no, it's not *inherently* bad, but when you play both routes and the MC in the Slave routes is intentionally made to feel like an over-the-top "Shut the fuck up, *insert villain here* or I'll slap you with my dick", while the Love Route's MC is constantly being saved/failing at doing anything impressive/usually at best manages to be a sort-of equal... it's easy to tell where the favoritism is, and where the real power fantasy comes into play.

The love route is better IMO because the characters don't all have to bow down to the MC's cock, and so they get to have actual personalities and character development, but it took until Book 3 for there to be a really satisfying Love Route, IMO. Toph had some great moments, but Katara barely felt like a character (It's book 1 so I let that slide), Azula basically forces you to last-second go Slave/Dom route or become Slave/Sub to her and throwing away her foreshadowed redemption, and then in Book 3 while Toph is a cool character, MC is back to being basically useless, not accomplishing much outside of the actual romance. Shit, he almost burns to death, and he *learned how to firebend*. I know time travel makes it a bit wonky, but IMO the Love Route has always suffered a bit compared to the Slave Route; getting a fresh writer in would be awesome if they could keep up.

I have to disagree about Toph's love, the best one was Mai's even if it wasn't as well written, well, because it's Mai. The Mai/Azula combo was pretty great too.

True, sorry, I was only going off the main girls of each of the four books. The side characters are a big strength of FET in both routes, I'd say.

You have multiple ends to the route, can't complain about her making you her trophy husband when you choose the trophy husband route.

Also even that route end with Azula chilling the fuck out a lot after the MC put his foot down.

Dude, you just mixed up the love and slave routes. I warmly recommend you to do the love route again.
