The game uses pictures for animations instead of videos which saves a lot of space. The picture are drawn so they are not so high in resolutions that a lot of space would be taken. Lastly the location to visit are static and which also save spaces.
Is there an optimal way to do routes in the story? Like if I did love route book 1 would the story be kinda messed up if I did slave route book 2?
The first time I played I did:
Book 1: Love Route
Book 2: Slave Route
Book 3: Love
Book 4: Love
and the only thing that changed that I noticed was having some extra characters in the epilogue of the love route

No, the routes don't really matter. The epilogue's stories do sort of expect you to do 1-4 Love then the love epilogue, or 1-4 slave and then the slave epilogue. They have the same overarching story (you're a future avatar that needs to learn to bend and you get helped by a mysterious spirit), but you either are getting the girls to fall in love with you, or you're a domineering womanizer who makes all the girls fall for you despite being a dick all the time. Both routes are great, but the epilogues don't make much sense if you mix the slave/love routes together.
I found it more consistent when you just stuck to one route throughout the game, otherwise you get major tonal shifts, especially with the MC since he's much more dominant in the slave route.
