The 'Abandoned' Tag is more F95z saying it's abandoned because of a several month gap between updates.I don't know what to say

Unless the Dev is active on the forum and posting development progress, any game that hasn't been updated in x months (I don't remember how many it is) will be marked abandoned.
If the Dev releases a new update, then it will be untagged as abandoned.
This is my understanding.

yup, the "Abandoned" tag is added when the developer says it's abandoned (rare), or when the developer doesn't mention anything about the game in a long time (way more common). If a developer drops off the face of the Earth and doesn't post in months, the tag will eventually be added. If the developer works on multiple games at the same time and forgets about one for a few months, the tag will eventually be added to that one.
But if the developer doesn't release an update for years but keeps saying it's being worked on every month, the tag will not be added.
Well, his Patreon is almost a year dead. Maybe the low patron numbers and not much financial return got the dev. I understand him.
A pity, it was a nice game. I liked the sister.

For all we know something serious could have happened to him as well... but if not, it's still kinda lame to leech of those who supported him without giving any notice.

Cool to see a Dev not being a cunt and not giving up! I'm not saying that from the pov of a pirate but from someone who has dabbled in react for front~end coding and Python for the back. This noise can get repetitive when it comes to switching rooms(web pages), doing dialogue webs(variables+menus/carousels). Foxed with Flash like 25yrs ago during the back end of the glory days of Newgrounds(not for these reasons honest lol) You had a rhythm going in the past, Dev, and if things needed to be just right to be released then hey thanks for your attention to detail!

Not "on the forum", the forum has nothing to do with it. The only activity that matters is the billing site (Patreon, Subscribestar, etc...). 3 months of no activity on these sites, and it's supposed to be tagged as abandoned.
"For years" is a stretch, it's 18 months to be exact. More than that just means people haven't reported, and the mods don't know about it, or some other special case.
