Excellent update. The game is for sure one of my favs on this site. I will wait till the public release before posting a review.
I am a bit confused about the integration of the taboo patch from now on though. While chapter 3 did have some rapey stuff, I couldn't load previous chapter 1 saves and some of the previous darkest paths weren't available anymore. Do you plan to include it to the game by default? Or maybe the public version is coming with its own patch?

As for your save files - that's really weird! I've had a few issues with save files bumping forwards or backwards in the script a bit (likely a result of me adding dialogue/images later) but nothing like what you describe. The only thing I can think of, since it's Chapter One saves you're having a problem with, is that the saves were broken due to the way the patch changed with version 0.15. So, those saves might be calling on an old style of patch, that's no longer applicable. I've also found that sometimes if you play a version with the patch, and then create a new version and don't add the patch, the game will still behave as though the patch is installed for the new content. But, it won't for the older files, before that patch was installed.
For best results, if you're using the patch, always download and apply the patch to each new version. That should keep your saves all working correctly. Likewise, for anyone who doesn't play with the patch, don't suddenly apply it a few chapters in, as it might break your game. I might recommend you reinstall the patch, start a new game, and ctrl-skip through to the new chapter, and see if that resolves the issue.
That said, I'm currently working on redoing Chapter One, so that may be a moot point soon.

General Update:

, detailing what I've been up to since I finished the Beta for Chapter Three. On top of fixing some renders that had clipping and floating problems, I corrected the end of Chapter Two, to reflect Nicki's new tattoos. I also fixed the lighting and tweaked the camera angle to make it more dynamic. And gave her a new outfit, now that I own a lot more assets.
On top of that, I also decided to add one small scene to Chapter Three, centered around Viola, a new character you meet while shopping for your sister's new swimsuit. I wasn't happy with how binary her scene turned out, so this will add kind of a middle-road path for her, setting up future content. It's already written, I just need to render it now.
I'm also going to add one small scene to the end of Chapter Two, comprised of less than a dozen renders, which I'd always intended to have in there. This will let the player be a little bit of a voyeur as they're preparing to leave the Barron house, assuming they stayed to play with Gabby.
Hoping to get this all into the public release on Friday.

Glad you feel that way! I received a review some time ago, which pointed out that the MC didn't really seem rich. So I've leaned into that a little more with Chapter Three, trying to correct it. You get to see some of the little ways his wealth has impacted his life for the better, even as things with his charity become increasingly demanding. In the future, I plan to show him getting some of the perks that come with being a minor celebrity.I feel rich playing this game, and i love it

I'm specifically thinking about the types of girls celebrities get to date.
So far we've mostly seen MC with a collection of hard-luck girls. But, I think he could land a nice young model or B-list actress..You're in luck! Chapter Three has a pretty spicy Gabby scene on her good path.I WANT MORE!!!

Hopefully, a cutie herself who can rock a pencil skirt. Invest in businesses that he can leverage for his proclivities. High-end clothing and jewelry stores. Media production companies. Hate to nitpick but people with dark skin have lighter coloured skin on the palms of the hand and the soles of the feet. It's a mistake I see a lot of AVN developers make (maybe out of laziness? lol).View attachment 2034372
Friends in Need Chapter 3 (Beta Version) is nowYou must be registered to see the links.
This version adds 1264 total new images to the game, features four sexual interactions, multiple light/dark options, multiple locations, and three new characters.
The final version will go live for $2+ patrons next week, on 9/14, with the public version being released on 9/16. Those versions will feature some basic animations, corrected art (clipping, a few weird faces, corrected Chapter Two art), and slightly revamped sex menus. Also, I'm working on giving the text a black outline for better readability.
Keep up the great work, the game is great!

Thankfully it's not that distracting/unatural looking. To be honest, I'd take that over the brighter genitals anyday. That shit drives me mad.

Mmmmmhm! Not to give too much away, but with Chapter Four we start to see a lot more of this. I've kind of been playing coy with what the MC did in the three months between Nicki leaving, and her showing back up at his door. But, he was busier than he let on. I also added a little line at the end of Chapter Three, which flies in the face of something he said in Chapter Two, hinting that he intentionally hides small things from the other characters, and in effect, the player. Curious to see if people catch that, and if they do, what they make of it.
Nitpick away! But, I actually did pick out a skin for Gabby that would reflect this. The problem is that it's really only apparent during certain lighting conditions. Whenever a lot of the game is taking place indoors, in low light, it's not super visible. And unfortunately, putting her in the kind of light that would be favorable to her, can also make the light-skinned characters looked super washed out.
PS: If you're a foot fetishist and this was your way of baiting me into showing Gabby's feet -- well played..
