But I don't think the actual numbers matter any more than the MC's actual wealth. They're meant to be evocative, a measure in relative change in each circumstance. When Nicki asks for 20K in help, and Brent on the phone wants 100K just because? That relative difference represents Brent's douche-baggery as measured in the orders of magnitude more money he wanted. When Nicki returns and tell of how Brent left her holding the bag, the increase in debt is meant to illustrate the relative increase in desperation and pressure on her. Neither of those numbers had to be exactly 100K, they just needed to be larger than 20K to illustrate the point; and again, 100K is a nice big round number that is both evocative and within the realm of possibility.

Also, if Nicki was really on the hook for 100K back in Ch1, that means nothing she said is true. The story about using 20K as collateral can't be true. Also, how did they even get into 100K in debt in the first place if they were in a paycheck-to-paycheck subsistence? What kind of secret collateral did they already have? Who was going to lend them that kind of money without collateral? Whereas Nicki's story in Ch3, the collateral was the 20K bailout, and the lenders were loan sharks. To assume Nicki is lying in Ch1, is to take on a massive truckload of other new assumptions that require new explanations. That's why merely from a simple probability standpoint, your take is far less probable; because it requires far more unexplained assumptions, it violates Occam's Razor.

Sadly that is not that uncommon in real life, especially in some parts of the world. I'd say NeonGhosts has managed to depict pretty well what that kind of abuse can do to you. And yeah, i also felt quite a lot of sympathy towards Mason.

Yeah, beat up bad enough to have a head-injury, that caused permanent neurological damage. Sadly not unheard-of for non-cis-het folks.

And yeah, even on my save path that I literally have named "Dickbag" I can't bring myself to be a jerk to him.

Since Mason is a woman identifying as a man, shouldn't there technically be the "futa/trans" tag in here? Is is this kind of trans of for men with tits?

Yes, before the last update little was known of Mason so the tag was missing.
Other missing tags are Exhibitionism, Humiliation, Interracial, Masturbation, Titfuck.

I agree the Tag should be there. And if the MC does have sex with him, the Gay Tag should also be there.

Mason's story (so similar to others that I had the honor to hear) was truly heartbreaking. I am a father of 4, I didn't and I won't ever stop loving one of mine for their pursuit of their truth. Wherever, whatever, that truth may be. Only people with no principles, no morals, loveless bastards do that.

Recently, someone, somewhere, decided to restart the war on trans. It's happening in many parts of the world. Uneducated, bigoted, homophobic unbalanced individuals are hunting them. If you see one trans individual, you are looking at someone with the courage of a HERO. Respect them accordingly. They are fighting a war you can't even fathom.

About the Tag, it should be divided into 2, Futas aren't Trans. They aren't even real, while trans is and is as old as humanity. My 2 cents.

These tags........ it's like they forgot that transgender males exist. Since Mason is a MALE, the Gay tag applies if they have sex. I turned down his blowjob, anyone that didn't... deal with it.

The Not applicable is denied by the OR. I am completely sure it was meant to not be applicable to trans females, that's why they include the futanari.

So, 2 tags: Trans/Futa AND Gay.

You are technically correct, the best kind of correct one may say, but... that's not the point of tags.
Tags exists for searching and filtering. People that are searching for gay games are not looking for content like Mason, no matter how technically correct we may be.

It has been discussed by the dev in the forum. The long and the short of it is that only the first chapter will be reworked but the game will need to be restarted from chapter one due to downstream consequences (such as a pure friendship route with Nikki as well as a few other alterations to story paths and consequences).

I haven't played last update yet. (Who knows, maybe will never... sad)
But the more I'm readin' this thread the more I want to make "Full monk playthrough".
For now I'm seeing only (not really only but mostly) Ashe as last ray of hope amongst these damaged or problematic individuals. But maybe I just know not enough 'bout her yet...

At least I can say for sure, my Canon playthrough will be (no matter how childish or stupid it is/sounds) without any intimate (love/dark) relationships with:
Old crushes seeking money and friendship
Not so smart ebony teens with asshole ex's
Tsundere waitresses in dire need to be saved
Males (no matter what set of genitals they have)
Russians (totally worst potential "Waifu's")
Any pseudo lesbians ("bi-curious" girls) if there will be such
