Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and got some nice stuff from Santa (and his helpers).

View attachment 4380189

I fully planned to put out a little micro-update for Christmas, and then I got sick with something that put me on the couch for a week in a NyQuil-fueld stupor. Booo.. But, since I already wrote it, I'm going to tweak it, and put it out for New Years. Cool? Cool!

This is a big part of it. I'll be honest: as the updates have grown, my attention to detail for these little possibilities has diminished. I have tried to be mindful of it -- if you're just friends with Mason/treating him like a guy, and haven't had sex with him, you get a special dialogue option in the dressing room scene when he comes out in underwear. This is meant to hint towards Guy taking more of a 'big brother' role towards Mason.

View attachment 4380208

Also, a llllot of people reacted to Mason's first scene with, "Well, I like Mason, but I don't want to take advantage of him in this moment, so I won't get a BJ here, but I'd like the option later." So, those follow-up options exist for those people. I think Phil also explained Mason's character motivations pretty well. Being neurodivergent/disabled he's not always great at reading social cues. But, he's also preemptively trying to use sex as a way of avoiding trouble/aggression. So, when Guy wakes up panicked and breathless, Mason jumps to, "Okay, I can just suck his dick and calm him down." Depending on the relationship, that can be Mason genuinely just trying to do something nice for the guy who's been so nice to him, or just trying to de-escalate the tension he feels.

But, in the interest of pleasing everyone, I'll add a little dialogue there where the player can tell Mason to stop asking, locking him into the friend route. I'll also add a flag so that, if you do scold Mason in the dressing room scene, he won't ask you about sex anymore.

I think someone else up-thread had mentioned that the update was full of Mason sex/seemed to want the player to fuck Mason at every opportunity. To the point where it seemed a little much. That was intentional, for the arc of Guy and Mason's relationship. Let me explain: Mason's relationship with Guy is actually informed by own relationship with a younger non-binary partner I had. Said person was always up for sex at the beginning of the relationship, and into basically whatever kink I wanted to explore. To the point where I could just shove them to their knees, pull my dick out, and get a blowjob whenever I felt like it. Slap them around? Great! Choke them, spit on them, leash and collar them -- whatever! They were into it, I was into it, and all was well.

But, something interesting happened as we grew into an actual couple: they started drawing boundaries that weren't previously there. They didn't want me to essentially treat them like a free-use meat puppet, but like an actual romantic partner. That fundamentally changed the nature of our relationship, where I had to start acting like an actual boyfriend, as opposed to a guy who fucked them.

So, I wanted to build the beginning of Guy and Mason's relationship in a similar way, and watch it develop. Right now, Romance Path Guy can basically do whatever he wants to Mason, and Mason enjoys it. What happens if that changes? What if Guy visits Mason at Barron Books, and tries to drag him into the bathroom to fuck him, only to receive a firm, "No, I'm working and don't want to get fired!"

Is Guy still interested in a version of Mason who doesn't just do whatever he says, whenever he says it? Can they actually build a healthy relationship where they're more-or-less equals? Let's find ouuuut!

God yes that sounds awesome. I love Mason but he does whatever I want all the time and sometimes I want him to stand up for himself.

Oh, and sorry you were sick dude I hope you feel better.

Thanks for explaining the reasoning behind the relationship dynamic between Guy and Mason NeonGhosts. Hopefully this will nip in the bud the complains. (y)
But am i misremembering or did you said something along those lines before here? Or it was on discord?

Also can't help but smile at the annoyed face Nicki is making on that render.:p:LOL:

Happy hollidays.

I caught something over the holiday too  My immune system probably needed a good fight anyways, so whatever. :p Been a while since I've been sick with something.

Yeah, I grew up in a very one-sided, unhealthy relationship, and so there's always that little voice saying "they're only doing this because they think it's what you want, you're a selfish asshole just like him". Unfortunately, my instinct is to project that onto every relationship, even though that's not the case. It's lead to intimacy issues as you can imagine :HideThePain:

So, of course it's just a sex game and Mason can be written in whatever way makes the player most pleased or comfortable, but I'm also glad we're going to see his relationship dynamic evolve into something (seemingly) more independent and willful :)

I'm fairly sure it's going to turn out the assault Mason suffered is connected to Lucien and his little rape industry
God, I hope not.

There are already so many games wherein all the evil in the world comes down to one dude; I wouldn’t want to see this one, which for the most part tries to impart some nuance to its characters, go down the same route.

Well, it could be worse. If you squint very hard you could almost make a case that "Vaughn" or whatever his name was may turn out to be one of Lucien's former aliases. Luckily, the overall timeline (and some other bits) make that unlikely enough, but the whole tattoos thing could be a hint of some sort of connection between those two.

Just here to voice my appreciation for this game, I really like the theme and story so far. I really hope we can "punish" Brittani's mom in the future, she's the only one I love to hate. Mason is a lovely fuckpet and I like the options we have with her/him. Ashe is stealing my heart and I'm intrigued by the story with her amputee BFF.

Again a big thank you, you've really managed to scratch an itch

Not really. Neon has been wanting to rework chapter 1 for some time now. Someone posted one of the old renders and i could barely recognize Guy on it. Either the person who did used another model or Neon did a lot of customization on it from chapter 2 onwards.
Besides he also wants to adjust some story details and variables.

This is why Nicky is my favorite - she's young but not so young I feel like I need to ask for ID. She's attractive and feminine but not necessarily lady like - so if I have to go to rich people society things I can count on her to behave herself but also keep the society people out of my grill (and laugh with me about it later while we eat our salads with entirely the wrong fork.) She's protective but not at all yandere, she just watches Guy's back. I knew her before money so I feel like I can trust her - not that I can read her mind, but I'd notice if she wasn't acting like Nicky. She likes (most of) the same things as Guy and she's good at handling shit that Guy isn't good at or doesn't want to do.

Guy's model is liiiiike 90% the same as the original. I think I did some stuff to soften his face a bit. But, it's honestly nuts how much changing a character's hairstyle, absent any other alterations, can make them look totally different. There's also x-factors like lighting choices changing how a character looks, and how people handle things like expressions and poses. I think even my Guy has changed a lot over the chapters, just because I got better at dialing in his facial expressions. Ditto for Madison, actually. For whatever reason, I struggled to get her facial expressions to look very natural, in Chapter 2.

I will say this: one character whose face did actually change was Nicki. I think it was in Chapter 4. Her old model had a small problem where her eyelids didn't line up and allow her eyes to close, because she was using a few too many face model sliders. So, I stripped some stuff out of her model and tweaked things until I had a more functional model. I've got a before/after somewhere, that I posted on my blogs.

It is comments like this that lead to chapter one reworks lol.
Hah! I honestly plan to make animations a thing that I pursue after Season 1 is done. And it'll most likely be something I hire someone to do, while I work on Season 2. I've long been of the mind that they don't really add much to any game I've played. They're basically just there to depict repetitive sex acts (i.e. thrusting, bobbing up and down during a BJ, etc.) and while I understand they look better than my janky 2-3 frame animations, I really don't think they matter much from a gameplay perspective. I'd rather give people a dozen different images depicting a scene, rather than 48 depicting the same scene, looping for two seconds. Plus, I come from a background of reading hentai and such, where animation wasn't necessary to give me a rich story (or a boner).

I feel like I'd be more inclined to do animations if I was doing something like the old Sogna Viper games, where 90% of the game is static sprites on a background. Then during sex scenes you get a handful of dope-ass hentai animations. Or if I was doing something like a touching/stripping game, ala the classic Super Deepthroat or Kasumi: Rebirth.

Allll that said, I understand that consumers see things like animation, voice acting, and music as an added value. So, it's something I want to pursue. Just not right now. :D

I agree that animations do not add much, and I'm saying that while currently playing Projekt: Passion. As for the other stuff - I almost always play with the sound muted and some other music I like playing so I likely won't notice the "upgrade" at any point.

I'm also kinda like this.
For me for the animation to really add value to it it have to be very well made, with realistic and natural movements, but at this point it will probably be too time consuming so it would affect the other areas and decrease value overall, but I do think we're the minority.
I see many people wanting animations on games that don't have any and they usually are satisfied with simple ones, so I think that it is a good thing to invest on for the general public...

If i may point out something, there's one thing on MC's model that could use a fix, and that's nipple placement. They're visibly quite a way outward from where they should be, which can end up feeling pretty weird. Meantime other male models don't seem to suffer from that. In any case, tweaking either the uv map or the texture itself should be fairly simple.
