Writing is a major factor, I feel like the importance of this gets downplayed too often. I have had the exact same experience many times, game looks good graphically but then the writing destroys the experience lol.Yea, it's great when you can learn more about a character and then not start to hate the character lol. A decent VN gives you a more in-depth look into a character, a great one does that and makes you like the character (unless the author wants to make you hate the character for some planned out reason and not just "This side LI is too popular and overshadows my shitty Main LIs" lol)
As for what you're referring to:
I fucking hate weebs, man. I hate that weeb-style of writing the most. It's just you know ... there aren't that many good writers developing VNs so I'll take what I can get. Stuff like Friends in Need are just something I put in a different echelon entirely. It's apples and oranges. You can expect good writing from stuff like this, everything else well ... it'd be great if the grammar was at least alright.![]()
I'm still salty over stray incubus suddenly making all the naive cute LIs go AHHH I WANNA BE YOUR CUM SLUT CUM CUM CUM GIVE ME YOUR CUM - like dude you fucking ruined it spectacularly with that BS.
There are also a lot of games where the girls are almost instantly jumping on the MC's dick and saying the dumbest shit, basically because the dev is lazy and/or has zero experience with women.
Friends in Need actually has some pretty legit characters that are shockingly like real life people...
