Man, I hate when shit get's retconned like this, especially after so many years have passed. New MC looks and acts extra retarded too.

Maybe there are legit reasons why this was done but if it's just because people disliked Nikki or whatever and you want to make her more likeable, I doubt it will work. People that dislike her will still continue to do so. She was perfectly fine before, she had flaws and in a moment of weakness tried to exploit her friend and regrets that, there's character there.

I agree that she was perfectly fine before - I mean in the original I was on the Nicky solo path but the Dev wanted to give us more backstory and set some other things up. Basically wanted us to have more info about who Guy and Nicky were before Guy got rich. And apparently someone else did the Ch1 artwork and there were some bits he didn't like, so his call.

Meh, it's not just the new art that is bad imo, but oh well, it's the devs work to rework and redo as he likes. It is what it is.
I'll just put it on the back burner and check back in a year or 3 to see if it's completed.

First time I didn't mind a remake. If it's just the vanilla version that's great with me. However if we lose treating Nikki like a two dollar whore and the beautiful dark scenes this will go to one of my favorites to eh.

This dev has already removed (rewoked, altered) some of the dialogue etc throughout the vn so I'm just hoping it mostly effects the love pathers. There is very few vns with good dark content and this is one of them.

From what I understand it wasn't because of pateron those things are still in SS version I thought. It was more to fix things up like the art and give more background and story

Most of the story is still to come. Keep in mind there are two different versions of the game - Friends in Need, and Friends Indeed. The latter is the vanilla, Patreon version. We haven't seen the version for Friends in Need yet, and the chapter rework is for a variety of things - Neon has never been that pleased with it and has been planning a rework for a long time. Lots and lots more still to come.

If the option is red in the URM, it means that the game does not see the patch.
Try changing the patch value to true in the URM window and click Change. Then click "Select" the third option in the URM dialog.

No, the remake is for "Friends Indeed" version of the game which is for Patreon subscribers and has no support for neither dark nor "evil" routes. The taboo patch will do nothing for it.

For the dark content, you'll have to wait for the "Friends In Need" i.e. regular version to receive update, and then to be uploaded here.

100% wrong. Those are two separated things.

Patreon version is called Friends Indeed: contains vanilla content.
Subscribestar version is the one called Friends in Need: contains the original game content.

Neon remade chapter one to adjust the story to make it better connected with later chapters and also because the original renders for said chapter were done by another developer and as such they were very outdated.

Its too bad this game will just be abandoned in another update or two. Remakes of these unfinished games always fail and there was no reason to remake the original version.

Not necessarily, you have WTHI, that is going to be finished, and the remake is going on slowly as well. Now that i've played all the routes of this game, i hope it gets finished because i liked both the bleeding heart and rapist routes.
