I like the remake still it's more fleshed out and ironed out still there has to be a patch that restores the original Taboo stuff but with better renders and story

Look no Offence but there is no Patch for adding the dark side if your playing the patreon Version Chapter 1 Remake.
If you pay attention when you download you would see it's called FriendsIndeed-v0.25-Ch.1_Remake.
The dev has said it and others have said it before.
So once again FriendsIndeed has no dark path at all zip, zero, nadda... patched or otherwise because.
Its the Patreon verssion.
FriendsInneed is the Subscribestar version all the dark path you could want.
If you want the darker stuff wait for the FriendsInneed version of the chapter 1 remake.

So I just played the remackeCH1. And I gotta say, the OG version is better. And is not because it could get superdark, but because MC had a reason to be an asshole (not a complete demon, but an asshole). So choosing anything, aside from the worst path, felt natural and realistic.
- Problem CH1 Nicky visit: In the OG, Nicky seeks and sweettalks the MC to bail her out, because she learned he has money. It is a selfish act, and it gives reason to the MC to be somewhat of an ass. At the same time, she feels bad about it, she is MC's friend, and she is in serious trouble( that is partially the boyfriend's fault). So you have valid reasons for going either way. But in the remake, Nicky seeks MC, tries to contact him, waits at his house, all without knowing he had money. Meaning she is a true bro., and angel to the MC. It is less realistic, and it gives you little justification to be an ass.

I assume, among other reasons and impacts, that it's a way to explain why Nicki wasn't romantically locked in from day one, and was with Brett instead of the previous version of MC .... which looked like a good match for her, just without money. Which made her look shallow and worse at the start of the original.

In the remake he is just not that attractive, which explains her attitude and earlier lack interest, aside from friendship. Not just for superficial reasons like his looks, but also his state of mind.

Except that the chapter pretty clearly indicates that if Guy had taken the initiative, she would have gone with him from the start. You can tell when she asks Guy whether she should go out with Brent in the first place.

Seems two different times in the life of the Dev. Before, three years ago, he was darker. A love delusion ? A separation? Who knows. Now seems he is in a good mood and he wants to save Nicky’s character. Probably “Nicky” is an importan person for NeonGhosts .

If you'd taken a few minutes to read the last few pages of the thread, you would have learned that Neon doesn't plan to remake the other chapters. Before he can incorporate those chapters into the remade Chapter 1, he just needs to make some changes to the code, maybe add a few renders, and adjust some text so everything stays consistent.

It won't take him five years—probably just a month.

im pretty sure Neon has said before (on Patreon/Subsar or in the game, i cant remember) that although he wrote the original Ch 1, the renders were done by someone else, and he's always had the intention of remaking it before the game was finished. I could be wrong, but im pretty sure.

Its too bad this game will just be abandoned in another update or two. Remakes of these unfinished games always fail and there was no reason to remake the original version.

So, originally the dev from The Regional Manager (great game, great guy, go play it!) did the art for Chapter 1. I used his model for Nicki, but there were certain things about her that I didn't love, and I wound up changing a bit before I took over rendering Chapter 2. I gave her more distinct eyes, tweaked her face a bit, blah blah blah. So, the Nicki present in Chapter 1, matches the Nicki that exists from Chapter 2 and on. I changed her hair from the original, just because that original asset was dForce hair, which is a giant pain in the ass to work with.



I just wasn't happy with it, honestly. Due to how it was made (with me writing, and someone else rendering) it just never felt as cohesive as I wanted it to. And I couldn't have as many renders as I wanted, because another dev was doing the art, while working on his own game, so he only had limited time to fuck with it. The new version lingers more on Nicki and Guy's friendship, goes into his original crypto investment a bit more, introduces some characters earlier, and adds more variety to the sex scenes. I wouldn't say it's just a new coat of paint on an old story. It's more like a retelling of the original, with more elements added.



Difficult to say, but my best guess would be mid-late July? I'm still early into Chapter 11, and it should be a pretty large chapter.



Eh, I'm not really frustrated. I'm pretty accustomed to this pattern by now. I do [X], some folks says it's the death of the game, and then we rehash the exercise in four months. Been that way since the first release. I just wish people would realize that, if their intent is to whip me into submission like a dog, it's just.. Not going to work? That seems to be the impetus, right?

Like.. Maybe that works for some people? But, I'm always working as quickly as I can, and yelling at me about X, Y, or Z isn't going to make me go faster.
