I'm slowly converting the download links as the files upload. I had a bit of insomnia and woke up around 3AM, so I decided to compile the new version. But, I'm at my day job, and waiting for the files to upload.

Currently Friends in Need 0.57 (PC) and Friends Indeed 0.57 (MAC) are available on their respective platforms, as well as Discord.

As for the sex scenes, Chapter 8's just a little light in that regard. There's two with Nicki (love path and corruption/domination), one for Ashe (dark path), one teasing scene for Britt (dark path), and webcam content with Pepper.

There's also this scene, which I suspect a lot of people didn't get..

I don't know if I understand you correctly. But really, and joking aside, Britanni's mother is a terrible person. To begin with she is xenophobic, but she is also selfish, a bad mother and self-interested. And that, in two or three lines of dialogue. If we knew her more, it is likely that more pearls would come to light. As Guy says (paraphrasing from memory): "pretty on the outside but rotten on the inside."

And she literally is a slut. Brittani too, by the way. But the fact that they are both sluts is nothing bad in itself.

If you're speaking from Guy's moral point of view, in the sense that doing a bad deed to someone bad turns it into a good deed, well, there would be a lot to argue about that and this probably isn't the place. I will only say that I believe that good actions must be good in and of themselves, and not depend on anything. Let's take the example of those clowns that bother Guy on the street. It could be that the money they raise is for a good deed (although it doesn't really seem like this from the context). But let's say yes, they raise money to build an orphanage. Well, building the orphanage itself is a good thing. But since they are doing it to gain notoriety, so that others see how good persons they are, it is not right. That good deed is not good in an absolute moral sense. It is an action that depends on selfishness. Therefore, doing bad things to someone bad is not morally good. Because the action is not born from the will to do good, but from the will to repay (if that is the case). That is in broad strokes what I think about the subject.

You're quite correct that this isn't really the place to examine in depth the nature of morality. But if the MC keeps encountering setbacks on the 'good' path, he has the means to have them dealt with, and even if he is otherwise motivated by being a good person, it does not mean he has to otherwise be "live and let live".

I mean the idea that doing nothing is all that needs to be done for terrible things to happen has always been more important to me than the specific motives or the specific actions of people. For me, passive apathy by those able is a greater 'evil' in the face of actual harm being done that could be prevented, than the flawed intentions of the vainglorious. But that's all subjective, up to and including what "doing bad things" to people could be. From exposing them for their own crimes, to manufacturing some level of harassment to their daily lives, to pushing them down the stairs after a loan shark broke their legs...

But, and this is key, the most important detail by far, I'm still pissed off about the fucker stealing the backpack.

To get Nicki's you must have visited her the night before (at the end of 0.4).

To get the little scene with Brittany you must have forced her to give you a blowjob in Photoshop. You don't do too much with it, but the scene is pretty hot (especially the ending)

To get Ashe's you have to follow a specific route. That is, you have to rape her in the alley, then drug her in your house (0.4), and the next day, she is broken and submissive and you can tell her to give you a blowjob, which she does without question.

The truth is that this update is disappointing in terms of sex scenes. I don't want to judge whether it is the right decision or not. The game will likely be helped in the long run by the stories that are introduced (Brittani's mother, for example, shows quite a bit of promise in several routes). But I also think that, being a porn game, sex scenes should be prioritized. If shortcuts have to be taken, the story should be cut. That's my opinion. For example, the scene on the street with the two influencers is likely to have an impact for later. But if there was no time, and something had to be cut, that scene was the perfect candidate. You can always include it in another chapter where you have more time, or when it will be relevant.

On the other hand, what I do think has been a mistake is not including general sex scenes. I mean, depending on the route you took, it is very likely that you will not see any sex scenes (just a little tease of the cockteaser Risa). If only three sex scenes could be included, at least one should have been more open. I am aware that the way the update was it was difficult to do that, but perhaps a sex scene with Risa or, ultimately, with Nicki could have been included. I say with Nicki because with her it's easy to make the scene jump in any possible route (if you don't drug Ashe, for example, it's difficult to do a sex scene with her).

Finally, I would not like NeonGhosts to get the wrong impression. It's a good update when it comes to history. And the few sexual scenes are very good. I have had a lot of fun playing all my gameplays with the new update. But it is also logical that many people are disappointed. If you only play one gameplay, you have a high chance of getting through the entire update without a single sex scene.

• Ch8 Teaser: Free for everyone, uploaded Christmas Day. Contains the first half of the update.
• Ch8 0.55: Patrons-only Alpha version, uploaded Christmas Day. Some bugs, pieces of art with clip-through, etc.
• Ch8 0.56: Patrons-only Beta version, uploaded yesterday. Improvements on art, bug-fixes, etc. Added a couple scenes. Also fucked up some label jumps, so it broke part of the game, causing me to take it down after a few hours.
• Ch8 0.57: Patrons-only Final version, uploaded today. Added another scene, and another ~20 pieces of art. I thought it'd take me a few more days to get this version up, but with .56 being broken, and me catching a second wind, I knocked it out sooner than anticipated.

In case people don't realize it (and I recently had someone express surprise at this) -- I don't upload anything here. I have zero control over how and what is posted. The only place I release FI/FiN is Discord, Patreon, and SubStar. So, I totally get being frustrated with not knowing/understanding what is being posted, but I try to explain it as best I can in the places where I actually release the game, with dev notes, etc.

I know the folks here at f95 work really hard to manage all these uploads and such, and as far as I know they're all volunteers, doing it for the love of it. So, they're not always going to be able to be on top of these things.

By the same token, I have my hands full with development, managing three separate communities, squashing bugs, doing art corrections, etc. Plus, I was navigating Christmas and New Years obligations during a hectic release. I mean this with no animus, but at the end of the day this is a pirate site, so you kind of get what you pay for.

Oh my god those look amazing. If this is another one of those rare scenes that you have to do something weird to get, I'm very happy to have seen it here.

It's only a little weird. For this one, you have to be nice enough to Britt during the photoshoot so she'll eventually try to kiss you in bed. Reject her, and explain it's not the right time. When you see her in this chapter, she'll flash her new work uniform at you. The reasoning being that having Jamie catch her in the act with you caused her to feel a little skittish about doing things with you again. But, if you turned her down, she's a little flirtier, having not formed a negative association with fooling around with you.

Being honest. Without this forum the game would never have been. This game, and the vast majority of porn games that flood the Internet today. So it's a quid pro quo.

If a developer is upset about his game being here, he's just an idiot. If it weren't for this forum, there would be no patrons, no dissemination, or anything at all. There would be no game.

Yeah no. You can see me complaining about sex scenes in games like Summer's Gone, because there is no sex scenes. But I wouldn't complain here, even this update has several sex scenes. What makes VNs interesting is the story imo, you won't find that in porn videos.

If you strip VNs like FiN from its story you miss the entire point. The setting and story are what interest people in the first place. Of course we want to make tender love making with Viola, she's a sweet girl in a tough spot and that situation wakes up yor inner white knight. Of course some people want to rape Gabby's ass, she's a foul mouthed brat and deserves punishment.

The point is you need a minimum of build up to make the girls and the games engaging and interesting to pursue/play. Also that makes FiN good among the sea of incest themed games in which we play as some dumb teenager with a horse dick trying to fuck his entire family and the dog.

And I'm not saying the opposite. But I do believe that if an update is, to say the least, 10% porn and 90% story, it is normal that there will be disappointed people. Maybe when planning an update we should consider, I don't know, including at least 30% porn (I'm saying the percentages offhand, without thinking seriously).

And what I do think is that it is a mistake not to include at least one porn scene that will unlock everyone no matter what. Maybe a scene that appears with any of the 3 main routes. Don't know. But I understand that in a game like this achieving that is difficult. Basically because it could be that you are kind to Britanni, that you have raped Viola and no longer appears, that you are passing on Nicki, and that you have a love-hate relationship with Ashe. And that in the update none of those routes have a sex scene. In fact, it happened to me in my main gameplay. I didn't visit Nicki the night before, so that's it. I didn't rape Ashe and then drug her. Not there either. And with Britanni I'm on the line between abusing her and helping her. So in that gameplay I didn't get a single porn scene. Not even one. Even so, I enjoyed the game because the story interests me.

And of course, then I have other gameplays in which I have unlocked the few porn scenes that there are.

And finally, what anyone can see is that the streamer's scene adds nothing to this update. It's a scene that could have been left for when it was relevant. I don't doubt that it will be relevant in the future, but right now it is not connected to anything, nor does it tell us anything about anyone. The story does not advance. It's pure filler at this point.

If it had to be cut somewhere, that was the point. And leave time for at least one porn scene before the final scene with Risa (even a porn scene with Risa, before leaving with the car).

In short, I think this update has not been planned well. But it does not matter. First because it's just my opinion. And second because if you enjoy the plot of the game, very interesting elements are introduced in this update. You delve deeper into Risa's character, for example. But also in Britanni and Carol and even in Pepper if you didn't do it in the previous one. And then, if you have destroyed Ashe in your gameplay, here you see her at her lowest moment. A broken toy. The consequences of your actions.
