This is my first time posting as the dev of FLSM. I've been mostly lurking, watching this thread to get honest feedback about the game, so thanks everyone here for that.
We've had a Patreon page for a couple of years now, just to be clear. The latest release you linked to is for the public release of the latest build. Patrons already have the builds leading up to this one, and this latest one is mainly for itch.io users since they don't get beta builds as often. If you've been a patron or downloader from here or elsewhere, then there won't seem to be much new in this build. If you got it on itch then there's a lot that's new.
The game is listed as "Abandoned" here, but that's not true, it's just that we've been trying to get funds together to work on the RPG version which is what we've wanted to do all along. As you can tell from our Patreon page, we don't make that much for two people working on it. So it takes a while.
Regarding "SexSim2", the original SexSim game was released in 2010. We were commissioned by the owner late last year to make a new version, SexSim2, which is what we'll be sharing on our Patreon page. Since it's not our game (we're only making it), we unfortunately can't give the alpha/beta builds out except to patrons (we got permission from the client to do that). We do, however, also have permission to create whatever add-ons we want after our commission is finished. We have to release the game and then create a number of add-ons for the client, and then we're free to make our own stuff for it. Once we start doing that, we plan to just give the add-ons away and hope to get patrons support.
As far as "giving things away" goes, we're big fans of free software, and wish we could just give everything away anyway. We try to work on our games full time but damn it gets tough paying rent (this month coming up is no exception and we're kind of stressed, tbh). Our Patreon barely makes anything so we have to make it up on itch.io and through commissions. Hopefully that will change in the near future. That's the plan, at least.
I absolutely suck at making update posts. I don't typically like to talk about what I'm working on and I really only like to show it when it's done. My partner is the same way. She's the artist mostly and I'm the programmer. I typically have my nose buried in code and don't do very well keeping people updated. I'm working on it. Really trying. It doesn't come naturally to me, haha.
Anyway, this ended up longer than I'd thought it would be. For everyone in this forum who has commented on our game, again, thank you. Whether you like it or hate it, we're listening. And with that, I'm likely going quiet again.
