I DID IT! I FUCKING DID IT!
I was able to set conditions to view a side story. It's not what I had hoped, but it gets me a similar result.
But it makes me wonder if I now need to do like a quest tracking thing for it to make sense.

i.e. I set up a menu on a side story. If you viewed a certain scene, that side story menu will let you continue. But, if you haven't seen that certain scene yet you will return to the main map. Your choice will only appear after that condition is met. I think I'll have to add hints to the menu option.

But, it's done!!!!!!!
Time to get some sleep now.
