Sure, very different games and all that jazz but getting good numbers is a possibility. The thing here is that Maya has been promoting the game non-stop for months on social media, he's incredibly active in his server and in others, he's always interacting with the community, ... And obviously the game being very good really helps too.

Obviously, doing those same things does not necessarily guarantee success, but it's necessary if you want to market your game. There's a reason why massive brands known by pretty much everyone like Coca Cola or McDonald's still keep advertising all the time, you need to stay in people's minds.

Also, I believe AVNs live or die by how appealing the girls in the game are, and as an outsider who hasn't played Game of Hearts based on what I can see, Meredith seems by far the main girl of this game, but the reality is that she's not going to be visually appealing to that many AVN players. She may be a great character but the average AVN player isn't going to be attracted to her looks. If they were attracted to her, AVNs wouldn't be filled with supermodels XD

But wishlist numbers actually do grow, but only when they're approaching the release. Why? Because that's when Steam actually start advertising it.

Promoting your game is like going around with fliers. When Steam decide to market your game it'll show it to anyone that showed an interest in the genre. There's no comparison.

I'm not saying it's useless. Having a good amount of wishlist when the campaign starts let Steam know the game is already anticipated, so it gets publicized even more.

That do be true. That's why imo he should be advertise Julia, Maxime, Brie and Ruby at the same level. Julia especially should be the face of the game.

Yes, House of Hearts is a sequel to Game of Hearts. New season if you will. Brie was attack by the MCs mother (if I remember correctly) and you see his mother before the GoH end credits. The MC is the same MC for GoH but with new female characters. SparkHG mentioned that you’ll see the original characters from GoH in new update (just don’t how much screentime). Also Brie will be replacing Julia as your assistant (from the dev’s dev log post). Hope this helps.

A bit of clarification as well, but the original girls from GoH will essentially be in a dream stasis or something like that at the start, but that may change and they may return on a more full basis depending on certain choices and factors later on. So they haven't been replaced, per se, just likely gone temporarily for plot reasons and to give the new LIs space to breath and grow.
