I know some people don't like seeing references to other VNs but I just wanted to say that I appreciate it. Sometimes I stumble across something I end up enjoying from it.

The only references I've ever really not liked have been crossovers where you can interact with a LI or character from another game. It's hard to nail the writing for a character who's not your own. I definitely prefer the more subtle options. I think the biggest problem people have is when it breaks the immersion.

For me - if it's a game I don't play and makes references I therefore don't understand.
I think I'd throw that into the immersion-breaking sphere as well. It's one of those things that immediately reminds you that you're playing a game, even more so because you lack context. I think the best references are the ones that if you know the reference, you'll get it, but those who don't know would never even know there was a reference in the first place, simple things like a character or movie poster in the background.

Will crash and burn since I see 2 models only that hold any interest. Shame since it looks like it might be well done and is being updated.

I definitely prefer your story over any mushy romance one where you are forced to make a single pick or left with the minor cast girls. Any model resemblance to such rather frustrating stories is a very welcomed compensation.
