Hey everyone, I hope you had a great week as it comes to an end. As promised, I have returned with updates that may upset you. As stated before, I reached out to the developer P_S_Y_C_H_O in hopes of getting his blessing to continue Gates Motel, but I have yet to hear back from him. With that in mind, I won't be able to continue the development of Gates Motel or use any of his assets, narrative, or setting.
In my last update, I mentioned that I created a post in the general discussion, and I received feedback. Most of the responses suggested that I should create my own game, loosely inspired by Bates Motel and Psycho. However, starting from scratch presents some laborious challenges, and I won't be able to continue Gates Motel as intended. I was initially taken aback by the idea, as I truly loved the game and would have happily continued the work. After some thought, I ultimately decided that this might be the right choice. I don't want to usurp P_S_Y_C_H_O's game or his hard work, nor do I plan to poach his fans or Patreon contributors, as those were never my intentions from the beginning. My only choice now is to create a spiritual successor that carries the same themes, narrative and inspiration.
With that said, I have made the decision to start a new psychological horror erotic thriller visual novel game called Beneath Her Shadow.
