Hello i was just wondering if you had a update for the one they released? Your QOL updates were amazing!
Thank you!
Sadly no. One of the developers looked at my new event with Christina and all my QOL updates and integrated what they liked, agreed with, and was lore friendly into the core game / new releases. I stopped playing Girl Life a bit ago and don't know what was incorporated into the base game and what wasn't. Hopefully they kept my new Christina event but I don't know. I spent a lot of time on it and made it as lore friendly as I could (extra effort was made to make it feel like an integral part of the game on my part - making it lore friendly was my top priority). I'm an old fan of the game and this was like my 3rd playthrough when I wrote it. I'm also a retired developer on this site for a different game.
I don't have any current plans to reintegrate what the Girl Life dev team left out of my new content and QOL improvements. I'd be interested to find out if they kept my new Christina event intact or not... I thought it was brilliant but when egos are a factor some devs will shun things if they feel like their toes are being stepped on or it wasn't their idea so it can't be good (don't know if that was the case or not - I'm not going to try and guess).
In this case the developer over Christina had plans for Christina for University but they hadn't implemented them yet and not much had been done with Christina for the past several years in Girl Life. So we as players were left in limbo with all ideas for new content with Christina basically being rejected since the dev had unspecified plans for her in the future. Part of the problem is that some of the Christina bullying content was commented out in the code for the High School playthrough and was to be later integrated into the University content (where it fit better). That's been on pause for a while. So my new Christina event that involves bullying in High School may not fit into the dev's future plans. My content with Christina ends when High School ends so the ideas really shouldn't conflict (The deal that Sveta makes with Christina in my new event ends when High School is over). Again, my opinion is that I beat them to the punch but that's not how things work in the dev team unfortunately.
There's a developer over every aspect of Girl Life, including each character in the game. If someone's ideas don't fit into their vision of the game or that character then the content doesn't get included. There are advantages and disadvantages to managing the project this way which I won't get into (don't want to start a debate - I come in peace).
Some have asked and suggested that I just go the mod route. One reason I didn't go this direction is that mods are not version independent. In other words, mods have to be updated also frequently when new versions of Girl Life are released. So I'm basically having to update code regardless... So I just chose to update the QSP directly, do an independent release, and allow the Girl Life team to integrate what they wanted from my changes and new content. I did re-integrate my new content and QOL updates into several new versions of the game but I don't want to do it forever. I would like to stay mostly retired.
