So, there is a file called "18cent" in there with the .exe files in the download for Windows...... seems super safe

Oh your talking about the TTF tile called 18cents no thats just the font he used for the game. Anytime you need to add a new font it comes in that format. Most developers add it so the application runs smoothly with out the need for the user to install the font themselves.
TTF stands for TrueType font file (.ttf)
Try installing it. It just adds another style font for you to use on word or any document. I've learnt to always google what type of file something is before I open it helps ease fears.
Especially when it comes from an unknown source.

well, since the update is still from last June and there is nothing new since then...kinda hard to work on a game when the artist decided to leave.
