This is not entirely true. There are at least half-a-dozen scenes (in the entire 32 chapters) where his member is at least curved over and pointing straight down (I don't think it was any smaller though).

I'm not a Daz wizard but I'd imagine that if it's the same size and general shape then it was probably just morphed in the studio to curve a bit and not point straight up.

Tbf, and I'm really sorry to everyone for the TMI here, but my half chubs are just as big as a full erection, it just doesn't point the same way. So for an MC who's always horny and ready to go at the drop of a hat, it's completely reasonable that the size would be the same.
