I agree with Darkam. If you've already played the game, about 27 gig across 6 different files to start from the beginning is a lot to download
Hmm... strange logic. You do realize that if you play the complete game, the gigabyte will be even larger than you imagine? Because it's already complete in every part, with many scenes.

I have nothing against people waiting for the complete VN, but there's enough here to enjoy a full playthrough.

I just meant that if you've already played the game, let's say about a year ago, but lost the save files for one reason or another, there should be a way to continue the game without starting from the beginning again, especially if you were already in part 4 or 5 or so.

I understand. But it's good that I've never lost a saves game lol, and even if I do, it's automatically saved to the cloud... :HideThePain: :HideThePain: :HideThePain: :HideThePain:

That's easily solved: A lot of AVNs have an option to "start from Chapter/version X". You could do the same here while being asked which girls you accepted before starting that chapter.
I mean, sure. But I'll point out again that you're asking for something someone else will have to make, 'cause pretty sure it's not on MoonBox's to-do list.

Another problem is there's really too many choices in this game that effect future interactions. If there was a way to skip to a somewhat random point in the game, you'd have to answer questions about which characters you wanted to have done specific things with and made specific choices for. And that list would get longer the further into the game you "started" ... and Moon already gave up on doing that after Part 2. There's no way he makes one that can be started at various points in the game after it's finished. By the second half of the game you'd spend almost as much time answering questions as you would just ctrl-skipping the game and making the choices manually.

Anyway, I've made my points. I'll let this one go now.

Enjoy not playing the game.

EDIT: BTW, if you know of a game that ISN'T in parts or isn't a Kinetic Novel that has the "start from chapter/day/version X" Let me know, 'cause I haven't seen one. And all those have questionnaires, except Kinetic ones, since their are no choices in them.

It exists. It's:

- CTRL
- TAB
- Right-Click on Skip

Save. Make backups so you don't loose them again. Move to the next part.

I don't get that this is that hard to do.

That isn't the same thing at all as starting from a specific part and still needs you to download every single part. I don't know why you're so hostile about it if there are examples of many games that have proven it can be done in a much more user-friendly way.

I am playing this game, and I also backup my save files, I'm just trying to help people that are less tech-savvy.

And I didn't get the feeling that there would be more variables besides "do you want sex with this woman" and "do you want this fetish in your playthrough". If you've chosen those, the dev could just program all the other choices that were basically the same thing for you.

I remember there actually was in an older part an option to start without a save. But you had to answer a shit load of questions to make it work. Probably no one used that really and therefore was removed again.
For those who lost their saves and really don't want to skip: use the saves provided from Koga (the mod linked in the OP), he has ones for every game part

Okay, but again, you're still going to be downloading 25-26 gigs if it was one large file ... and if you wait for a "whole complete game" it's going to be over 35 gigs if what we've been told is accurate. As it is now, you can download one part at a time and start playing as soon as the first part is done. The other parts can be downloaded in the background while you start playing.

That's all assuming Moon ever combines the parts into one single file ... which every indication is that's not going to happen unless someone else does the work. Even then, the file-size will be unwieldy for this type of site.

And your whole "skip the seasons" argument ... how would you skip around the game if you don't have the saves? That doesn't make sense either.
Think MB said he would look in to rewriting the code so it can be joined after the game is done (so a fair bit of time yet) but don't take that as given :)

And where are these "great minds" you are talking about?

I agree with Darkam. If you've already played the game, about 27 gig across 6 different files to start from the beginning is a lot to download (and takes a very long time) just because you've lost your save files/got a new pc. Also the comparison with the tv-show doesn't really hold up, seeing how you can just continue from a later season and skip the seasons you've already watched.
?? This all sounds like a data management problem.

Part 2 easily downloads in the time it takes me to play part 1.
I don't delete part 1 before I start part 2.
If I do have to delete part 1 for storage limitation reasons I pull a save file first.
If I forgot to pull a save file, people here are pretty good at helping from what I have seen.

And in general, I back up my files and port them to any new machine so I would never have this problem in the first place.

It's multiple parts compared to other games because it is far, far more content than other games. I'll take that trade-off, myself.

Not really fair to expect the dev to account for users data hygiene.

It sounds like not enough people have offline (or secondary) storage setup for their use. A file server (old machine with a bunch of drives) is one of the easier ways to do it with network access; I have one of my own here holding ~60TB which makes storing games almost trivial. Then there's USB attached storage - the cost per TB on a spinner drive is exceedingly low nowadays. And finally there's Blu-Ray writers which can do 25-50GB for even cheaper. Even USB solid state drives ("sticks" as people like to call them) aren't that expensive, and take up very little space.

If you don't have the ability to offload games and other software from your gaming rig or workstation, look into it. It helps immensely with titles like GH that otherwise would cramp storage, or require re-downloading every time.

It's a non-issue IF you plan ahead. Will Moon concatenate the Parts eventually? Maybe, but I think for the majority of us that problem has already been handled. From that perspective, I don't see it as necessary.

Hello, can someone help me? I have a bug. I can't play anymore since the 0.85 update. I tried again and played with the 0.53 saves, but nothing works.

Also, for the last part, I think Moonbox said he won't do it because the code was changed or something like that. So, peoplewho wait for it would be waiting forever.

That is because the v0.53 saves are not compatible with v0.88. Or to put it in another way: You have to play through part 3 with your current save, then part 4, part 5, and then you can play part 6.

Yes, I know, it was to say that I took back previous saves to restart parts 4 and 5 with a clean save, but nothing works. Part 6 leaves me on the home screen.

PS. My fault, I forgot part 5. I'll do another test.
